Makato's great ambition is to go on a journey for adventure. He
longs for exciting adventures and wants to try his luck in far-off strange
lands.

3. How did Makato meet the King?

While assisting a mahout in the Sukhothai realm, Makato encounters
King Pra Ruang. During his duties in the elephant quarters, the King
personally pays a visit. With a deep bow, Makato introduces himself to
the monarch. Acknowledging Makato's determination and diligence, the
elderly mahout informs the King of Makato's journey from the city of
Mon, leaving a favorable impression.

4. What did Makato do to the cowrie shell?

Presented with a cowrie shell by the King, Makato is keenly aware of
its significance in Sukhothai's currency system. Despite its nominal
value, Makato cherishes the gift and seeks to maximize its potential by
devising a plan to generate additional income.

5. How did Makato impress the king?

Makato astounds the King by utilizing the cowrie shell to cultivate
lettuce plants. With his sole cowrie shell, he procures lettuce seeds from
a market stall, negotiating a deal based on the seeds adhering to his
moistened finger. Successfully purchasing the seeds, he nurtures them
into a flourishing kitchen garden. Proudly showcasing his
accomplishment to the King, Makato reveals the lettuce's origins,
leaving the monarch intrigued.

6. How did the king reward Makato for his wise action?
Impressed by Makato's wisdom and diligence, the King acknowledges
his loyalty and elevates him to prominent positions within the palace.
Ultimately bestowed with the esteemed title of Khun Wang, Makato
ascends to the pinnacle of the King's court. Additionally, he finds
matrimonial bliss with the King's charming daughter. And as a final
gesture of appreciation, the King bestows upon Makato the rulership of
Mon, transforming him from a penniless orphan into the sovereign of a
thriving realm.
