TYPES OF PETROLEUM

1]CRUDE OIL

2]NATURAL GAS 3]GASOLINE

TYPES OF PETROLEUM
1} Crude Oil:
Crude oil is the raw, unprocessed petroleum that comes directly from the ground.
It consists of a mixture of hydrocarbons, including alkanes, cycloalkanes, and aromatics.
Crude oil is classified based on its API gravity (light, medium, heavy) and sulfur content (sweet or
sour).

2} Natural Gas:
Natural gas is a gaseous petroleum product primarily composed of methane.
It is often found alongside crude oil deposits but can also be extracted independently.
Natural gas is a valuable fuel and feedstock in various chemical processes.

3} Gasoline:
Gasoline is a liquid fuel composed of hydrocarbons with a boiling range typically between 30°C
and 200°C.
It is a primary fuel for internal combustion engines.
Gasoline is produced by refining crude oil through processes like distillation and catalytic
cracking.
4]KEROSENE

5]DIESEL 6]NAPHTHA
4} Kerosene:
Kerosene, also known as paraffin oil, is a heavier liquid fraction with a boiling range between
150°C and 300°C.
It is used as a fuel for jet engines, heating, and as a feedstock for certain chemical processes.

5} Diesel:
Diesel fuel is a heavier liquid fuel with a boiling range between 200°C and 350°C.
It is commonly used in diesel engines for transportation and industrial applications.
Diesel is produced through refining processes like hydrocracking and hydrotreating.

6} Naphtha:
Naphtha is a liquid mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from the distillation of crude oil.
It has a boiling range between gasoline and kerosene.
Naphtha is a feedstock for petrochemical processes, including the production of ethylene and
propylene.
