Session 7 - 03/26/2024
We hope all is well and would like to take this opportunity to share with you the many
adventures students experienced this week. Please remember that next week is Spring Break
for Athens/Clarke County Schools and we will not have a session on Tuesday, April 2nd. The
CAS Afterschool program will resume on Tuesday, April 9th.
Our group of students received their handmade paper from several weeks ago. Using various
art materials like scissors, watercolors, colored pencils, and other supplies, they created what
they desired out of their handmade paper. We saw creations ranging from cut-out collages,
paper turtles, ninja stars cut from paper then stitched together to make a crown, and so much
more. This was wonderful to see them comfortable with their art making.
Deeper Creative Explorations:
Our second group of students chose ideas from their sketchbooks and expanded their ideas into
larger format drawings & illustrations. They had a good amount of various art supplies to
explore and they were able to work closely with the instructors to refine and adjust their drawing
techniques to become better at expressing their visual ideas.
We're incredibly proud of the progress our students have made and the creativity they've shown
along the way. Looking ahead, we're especially excited for the final exhibition, a highlight where
students will showcase their creations from throughout the program. As an added note to our
rising 9th graders, the Lamar Dodd School of Art is offering an art camp this summer for High
School Students happening the week of June 24th – 27th 2024. Check out this link for more
