impact on the legal profession. Additionally, the session discussed the Digital India
Act, 2023, and its provisions regarding AI. This report aims to provide a
comprehensive overview of the session, highlighting the key points covered by the
chief guests.
The session kicked off with a student delivering a comprehensive presentation on the
fundamentals of AI and its application in the legal sector. The presentation
highlighted AI’s potential to enhance efficiency and accuracy in legal research,
document review and contract drafting. Dispelling common misconceptions, the
student underscored AI as a valuable tool for lawyers, emphasising environmental
benefits in reducing paper dependancy. The presentation concluded by stressing the
necessity for specialised laws and regulations to address AI’s legal implications in
India.
A practicing litigation lawyer, the first chief guest shared personal experiences of
leveraging AI, citing examples of significant time savings. They elaborated on how
AI streamlines document review, filings and argument drafting, resulting in increased
productivity. While highlighting the benefits the guest cautioned against over-reliance
on AI, urging its use as a tool under human control. Emphasis was placed on striking
a balance between AI’s capabilities and human expertise, maintaining ethical
standards.
Mr. Gaurav Goswami from Privy Law discussed the legal implications of AI in India,
focusing on the Digital India Act, 2023 (DIA). The DIA aims to establish a

technologies.
Mr. Goswami highlighted the need for specialised laws, such as the Digital Personal
Data Protection Act, to address data protection concerns. He also touched on
