Leaders of the church gathering to seek Gods direction. Worshipers, adventurers, families, retreat groups, conferees they have all crossed a threshold as they entered this place set apart; they have all embarked, as they passed through the montreat Gate, on unique and lifechanging journeys. this year, I invite you to make your journey to montreat conference center. Whether you come for the first time or for the next in a lifetime of visits, I welcome you through a gate made to invite people in, never meant to keep people out.
Our cover photo is courtesy of Michael Lewis, a former youth conferee. The photo won first prize in a contest held by the conference center several years ago, and we've been looking for the perfect place to spotlight it ever since! Thank you, Michael.

Welcome to montreat conference center. the gate is always open. Your purpose for being here is unique, and you have our promise that we will help you find what you seek, enjoy a memorable stay, and leave strengthened and better for the time you have spent with us.

Pete Peery, President

randy taylor, moderator of the reunion General assembly of the Presbyterian church (U.S.a.) in 1983, and dear friend of montreat, spoke to this many years ago montreat is not just a place it is a state of mind, a state of grace. It serves to recall for us all that church is family, not just genetic, nor nuclear family, but global family. Scripture calls it the household of God, and so we are. of this deep truth, montreat is a faithful reminder for those who have loved it for a lifetime, as for those for whom it is a fresh discovery, its elemental effect has been to guide in courses sometimes quiet, sometimes turbulent toward Him who is the water of life.

You may choose to come here for a conference or a seminar. In this catalog, find a year filled with opportunities to learn and to grow spiritually: the college conference; six summer youth conferences; our annual Signature conference for adults; the montreat Institute for church Leadership. or spend a day with acclaimed author and lecturer Phyllis tickle. Plan a church retreat, a business meeting in our state-of-the-art Belk center at Left Bank, or set aside time for your own Personal Sabbath retreat. allow us to help you plan your montreat journey. It is a journey that begins when you enter the montreat Gate and continues even as you go back out into the world through that same gate renewed, refreshed, and ready to serve God.
