Lesson Plan Outline

1. Learning Objectives:
Students will be able to utilize their knowledge on four modes (lydian, ionian, mixolydian, and
dorian) to visually and aurally differentiate them

2. Assessment:
In-class, formal and in-formal assessment
- Formative assessment: quiz answer sheets that the students will fill out
- Informal diagnostic: their participation during checking answers and rhythm activity

National standards - MU:Pr4.2.C.Ia Analyze how the elements of music (including
form) of selected works relate to style and mood, and explain
the implications for rehearsal or performance.
- MU:Re7.2.C.Ia Analyze aurally the elements of music

models for personal growth as composer, performer, and/or
listener.

Lydian; ionian; clefs; key signature; dictation ability, ability to tell the intervals between two
notes); note in relation to the given clefs
