The revolt of 1857 led to many, major changes in the administration and the policy of the British government.
Followings are the major consequences of the revolt of 1857. The policy of annexation and expansion of the
British empire in India ended. The British promised to respect the dignity and rights of the native princes. The
corrupt company had moved away from earning through trading to open plunder and savage exploitation of
Indians living under their territorial control and ended up making too many enemies in Britain. After 1857 revolt
the Crown Rule (British Raj) started.
