2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW

A literature review is a piece of academic writing demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the
academic literature on a specific topic placed in a context. The purpose of a literature review is to gain an
understanding of the existing research and debates relevant to a particular topic or area of study, and to
present that knowledge inform of a research report or proposal. It serves as a process of acknowledging
what other authors have written on a specific topic. The literature review helps the researcher appreciate
methods used by other researchers who had done the same topic or a related topic and conclude on
whether or not their methods are useful in the new research. This helps the research make informed
decisions about the research.

This chapter discusses the sources of data, research approach, design, target population, the population
sample, sample size, sampling techniques, research instrument, data collection procedure, data
presentation and data analysis.

3.2 Sources of data

There are two sources of data that the researcher had used in this report. Primary data and secondary data.

Primary data is a type of data that is collected by researchers directly from main sources through
interviews, surveys, experiments, etc. This type of data is collected from source where the data originates
from and is regarded as the best kind of data in research.

Secondary data is data that has already been compiled, gathered, organized and published by others.
Examples of such data include books, newspapers and websites.

The researcher used both primary and secondary data sources to conduct this research so as to obtain the
best results from this research.
