STANDARD SKILLS PROCEDURES

CONFIGURATION: JJ-CCR

Safety DRILL. (On Descent & Every 20 mins)

1. Bubble Check Check your team

2. Valve Check OXYGEN and DILUENT “on” Bailouts “on”

3. Cell Check All cells “agree?” Bring PO2 to 1 point above setpoint.

4. Computer. Setpoint, GF & Gases correct, INT/EXT battery voltage

5. Check for dangles. Look down and check

6. Bailout Turned on, Hose not “trapped” by back clip

7. Environment. Check Surround for Hazards.

HIERACHY OF BUOYANCY.
1. Check for minimum loop volume.

2. Check that drysuit has minimum gas to prevent squeeze.

3. Final adjust with wing as necessary.

DEPLOY SMB.
1. Stow light away

2. Signal "deploy SMB" and tell team “you hold depth"

3. Remove SMB and spool from pocket.

4. Unravel SMB.
5. Take bolt snap from spool and clip to harness.

6. Hold Spool and SMB in left hand.

7. Disconnect Drysuit inflator hose and insert into SMB inflator

8. Hold SMB away from body, look up for other divers.

9. Release SMB and maintain slight tension with finger grip on spool.

10. Use bolt snap to lock off depth once reached.

LABELLING AND ANALYSING CYLINDERS

1. Turn on and Calibrate Analyser

2. Install blank label on cylinder

3. Analyse mixture carefully ask “is it what I expected?”?

4. Immediately write gas mix on label – DO NOT BULK ANALYSE!

5. Follow this labelling convention where possible.

BAILOUT PROCEDURE
1. Signal team for assistance whilst shutting down Oxygen valve.

2. Flush DILUENT until Po2 is within safe levels.

3. Temporary stow light.

4. Identify cylinder, gas and MOD from label on inside of tank neck.

5. Deploy regulator, holding in right hand, mouthpiece down.

6. Purge regulator.

7. Open valve, check SPG.

8. Purge regulator to confirm valve on and correct regulator.

9. Present side of cylinder for team to Identify MOD.

10. Switch DSV/BOV and switch to Bailout Regulator. Then lift hose over your head.

11. Switch to OC in computer and check Gas is correct.

12. Deploy light.

13. Implement Bailout plan.

14. Remember to vent from C/L OPV on ascent.

GAS Switch (One Bailout to another)

1. Temporary stow light.

2. Identify cylinder, gas and MOD from label on inside of tank neck.

3. Deploy regulator, holding in right hand, mouthpiece down.

4. Purge regulator.

5. Open valve, check SPG.

6. Purge regulator to confirm valve on and correct regulator.

7. Signal "gas switch" and present side of cylinder for team to Identify MOD.

8. Switch to bailout regulator. Then lift hose over your head.

9. Switch gas in computer.

10. Disconnect Rear Clip from bottom bailout gas

11. Swing cylinder forward and stow regulator and hose away

12. Swing Cylinder back and Re- Clip to D Ring.

13. Deploy light.

14. Assist team gas switches

HIGH OXYGEN DRILL

1. Signal team for assistance whilst shutting off oxygen valve.
2. Flush DILUENT until Po2 is at DIL Po2.

3. Observe that cells are responsive and agree.

4. Disconnect O2 MAV

5. Turn OXYGEN valve on

6. Observe Po2 and listen to solenoid

7. If Po2 stabilises at setpoint it was a leaking MAV

8. If Po2 rises above setpoint Solenoid FAILED. Proceed with BAILOUT PROCEDURE.

LOW OXYGEN PROCEDURE

1. Signal team

2. Try to manual add Oxygen

3. If Manual Add works and Po2 increases skip to step 6

4. If Manual add does not work check O2 valve is on.

5. If valve was open, Oxygen Cylinder is empty- BAILOUT.

6. Check Setpoint, if correct SOLENOID FAILED CLOSED

7. Operate unit manually, end dive.

8. Consider bailout for complex ascents

CELL DIAGNOSTICS
IF ANY CELL READS OUTSIDE 0.4-1.6 AND CAN’T IMMEDIATELY BE
BROUGHT BACK WITHIN SAFE LEVELS BAILOUT IS STRONGLY
RECOMMENDED!

Diagnostics are only for future diagnosis.

ONE CELL VOTED OUT
1. Manual add a SMALL AMOUNT of o2

2. Observe cells

3. If 2 agreeing cells increase but disagreeing cell did not, 1 cell failed.

4. If 2 agreeing cells do not increase but disagreeing cell did, 2 current limited
cells.

5. Flush DILUENT until DIL PO2 is reached by Minimum 2 cells

6. If you cannot get 2 cells to agree on DIL Po2, 2 cells are faulty

7. If 2 cells agree on DIL Po2 then you have 1 Cell failed.

8. BEGIN BAILOUT PROCEDURE

VOTING LOGIC FAILED (ALL 3 CELLS DISAGREE)

Begin bailout procedure

FREE FLOW WING INFLATOR

1. Using left hand reach behind and begin shutting off DIL valve

2. Dump excess gas using wing OPV to maintain buoyancy control

3. Disconnect inflator hose from power inflator

4. Turn DIL valve back on

5. Use drysuit for buoyancy control or orally inflate wing.

6. Signal team “ Wing broken”

FREE FLOW DRYSUIT INFLATOR

1. Arch back and drop into semi-vertical position
2. Turn off bailout cylinder whilst trying to keep elbow up to help dumping gas

3. Disconnect Drysuit inflator

4. Signal team “ Drysuit Broken”

FREE FLOW ADV

1. Shut down DIL valve whilst dumping from loop OPV (like DIL flush)

2. Signal team “ ADV Broken” and end dive

3. Feather DIL valve on/off to use ADV or wing inflate.

SEMI-CLOSED REBREATHER MODE

1. If Po2 is above 1.0 continue to breathe until 0.7 if not, begin at step 2.

2. When Po2 reaches 0.7 vent loop via mouth or nose and activate ADV

3. Repeat until Po2 is above 1.0

4. Repeat steps 1-3 until ascent is necessary.

5. Begin Bailout Procedure for Ascent as Po2 drop is too fast for SCR mode.

BOOM DRILL
1. Shut down OXYGEN and DILUENT VALVES.

2. Check that Po2 is stable and loop is not growing.

3. Turn on O2, listen for leak to recommence. If it does go to step 4.

4. Turn on DIL, listen for leak to recommence. If it does go to step 6.

5. Begin Bailout Procedure.

6. Begin ADV Free Flow Procedure.

FLOODED LOOP PROCEDURE.
1. Drop into slight head down position (moves water from Canister into exhale lung)

2. Drop into semi Vertical position

3. Shake water from exhale hose into counter lung

4. Hold ADV button in whilst holding loop OPV open

5. When bubbles begin coming from OPV release ADV button

6. Recover buoyancy control via nose/mouth venting.

7. If Work of breathing is affected, begin bailout procedure.

8. If leak continues and is substantial, begin bailout procedure.
