helped by the other in arriving to correct
diagnosis and formulating the line of
treatment.

• The clinical psychologist is the one who helps

the child to perform various tests. The
diagnostic tests basically help the psychiatrist
to come into the point of diagnosis and to
judge the extent of limit upto which the child
has improved himself.

Contd….
• A pediatrician takes a complete health history
of the child and a complete physical
assessment. Here during the physical
examination he can see the cooperation of the
child towards the examiner in addition to the
developmental procedures of screening.

• In case of an infant, questionnaire may also be

used by the psychologist.

Contd….
• The questionnaire objectively identifies
temperamental profile so that the
professional person can then help the parents
interact with and care their child.

• The public health nurses work by supporting,
counseling and reassuring the patients since
the infants of various temperaments differ in
their rates of development. The nurse can
thus provide anticipatory guidance to parents
to improve parent-child interactions.

The child guidance clinics operate on the
premises that if sound foundations of mental
health are laid in childhood and adolescence ,
the same will continue in the adulthood.
Hence it is mandatory for each child with
