 AIR LEAK TEST CONDITION

Background: In Previous Multicavity Samples are tested in the below mentioned Specification
Filling pressure : 400 to 480 mbar

Filling Time : 5 Secs

As per the request from AVTEC specification changed to 700 mbar
Due this change in pressure Spring Tension increased to 0.3 N

Test method:
The seal was assembled in the test rig with the housing and shaft dimensions
Air Inlet
Hose
maintained as given below :
Shaft outer diameter, mm : 45.98 h7
Housing bore diameter, mm : 70.50 H8
Shaft finish : 0.26 Ra

After seal assembly in the rig the shaft is rotated manually for 3 to 5 rotations in
CCW direction. After 30min the test chamber was pressurised at 0.50,1.00, 1.2
Bar for 30 sec. Any leakage of air through the seal was noticed using a soap
solution

Sample No: 1 & 2 (0.50, 1.00, 1.2) Bar No air leakage was noticed from the seal lip

 Yoke Side Seal Summary of Samples

1. As per Avtec requirement w/o removal of excess flash 50nos of sample given.
2. By Increasing Spring Tension (0.3 N) in Multicavity samples and as per the requirement of Avtec tested leak at 0.7 bar in JKF
Test rig Found OK. Given 50 no’s of Sample.
3. As per Avtec requirement Proto cavity samples given of quantity 400 no’s, Feedback Awaited.
4. In multicavity tool 20nos samples provided by excess flash removed from tool. Feedback Awaited.
1.On 08.01.2024, 40 no’s of seals provided with increased lip contact & trimming of flash done, in that 10 no’s assembled
infornt of JKF & Avtec- No Leak Found
2. In Avtec End,Filling Pressure Reduced from 0.7 bar to 0.4 bar.
3. After that 520 no’s Yoke side seal dispatched to Avtec, Out of 520 No’s-452 Asembbled in their line and not observed any
leakage feedback received from Avtec

4. Continuous monitoring will be done in next lot.

In Avtec changed the air leak Specification as per below:

Filling pressure : 0.4 to 0.5 bar

Filling Time : 30 Secs

Stabilizing Time : 30 Secs
Leak Time : 5 Secs
Leak rate : 40pa/4 secs
