VARIOSPEED® ECONO CONTROLLER
Controls
Variable Frequency Drive controller in a NEMA 1 enclosure for indoor use.
The VARIOspeed® ECONO controller is designed to control a three phase pump in constant pressure control applications
including booster pump, deep well submersible pump, and irrigation pump applications.
As flow and head conditions change in the pumping system, the VFD is able to automatically control the pump speed
and maintain a constant discharge pressure. The desired set pressure is entered on the door mounted display. The
pressure transducer measures the pump discharge pressure. Not for use with sewage pumps.

SELECTING THE CORRECT VFD

1. Determine the voltage available on site.
2. Select a pump with the same voltage (motor must be 3 phase).
3. Check pump motor nameplate Full Load Amps (FLA) for proper VFD sizing.
4. Select a VFD with an output amp rating higher than motor FLA.
5. Use motor Service Factor Amps (SFA) for submersible well pump applications for VFD sizing.
PHASE CONVERSION
The VFD can be used in applications where three phase power is not available. The drive will convert 208/240V single
phase power to 208/240V three phase power. A three phase motor must be used in all cases.
MAXIMUM MOTOR CABLE LENGTHS

For 208V-240V pumps: 400 ft. For cable lengths greater than 400 ft., use a load reactor. Do not exceed 800 ft.

SJE OIL SPOTTER™ SYSTEM
Designed to control one 120V single phase pump using a receptacle for easy pump connections in indoor simplex pump ap-
plications. No wiring needed.
The SJE Oil Spotter™ system is designed to provide
pump control and alarm notification of potentially
threatening water and oil levels in simplex pumping
applications.
The system features an innovative, factory-installed
Oil Water Switch that senses the difference between
oil and water to remove water from the tank, while
preventing oil from entering the environment.
The Oil Water Switch features four probes (start level,
stop level, high water level, reference for ground) and a
mechanical high oil alarm float.
Common applications include elevator sump basins,

transformer vaults, leachate well applications, garages
or any application requiring ASME A17.1 compliance.
In normal operation, as water and oil enter the tank,
the oil rises to create a floating layer on top of the
water. The water level rises to reach the Start Probe, activating the pump to remove water from the tank. It
continues pumping water out of the tank until the water level falls below the Stop Probe (5" pumping range).
If the water level continues to rise and reaches the High Water Probe, the red high water LED indicator illuminates
and auxiliary contacts close (activating an optional Tank Alert® alarm or other remote device).
If the oil level rises to activate the mechanical High Oil Float, the red high oil LED indicator illuminates and auxiliary
contacts close (activating an optional Tank Alert® alarm or other remote device).

XPERT ALERT® INDOOR ALARM SYSTEM
Easy-to-install liquid level alarm system featuring 2 alarm inputs, temperature alarm, auto reset and
battery backup for indoor use.
The Xpert Alert® alarm system monitors 2 separate alarm conditions for sump pump basins, lift pump
chambers, holding tanks, sewage, agricultural and other water applications.
When the level in the tank rises, the high water float switch activates the alarm (audible and visual)
to alert of potentially threatening liquid level conditions. The sleek design of the Xpert Alert® alarm
incorporates a unique, easy-to-see LED alarm light ring that illuminates red for alarm 1 and amber for
alarm 2. The alarm horn can be silenced by pressing the large button, but the LED remains on as long as
the alarm condition exists. Once the condition is cleared, the alarm will automatically reset.
A red “Low Temperature” LED activates when the temperature falls below 40°F (4°C) to help protect
against freezing pipes; this feature can be disabled for installations in cold areas. A “Power On” LED Patent Pending
indicator is green while on plug-in power; amber while on battery backup; and red when the backup
battery is low. Low battery chirp feature provides notification when battery should be replaced (3AA
batteries not included).

TANK ALERT® AB ALARM SYSTEM
Easy-to-install liquid level alarm system with auto-reset and battery backup features for
indoor use.
This alarm system monitors liquid levels in lift pump chambers, sump pump basins, holding
tanks, sewage, agricultural, and other water applications. The Tank Alert® AB alarm system
can serve as a high or low level alarm depending on the float switch model used. The alarm
horn sounds when a potentially threatening liquid level condition occurs. The horn can be
silenced, but the alarm light remains on until the condition is remedied. Once the condition is
cleared, the alarm will automatically reset. A green "Power On" light indicates 120 VAC primary
power to the alarm. Low battery chirp feature indicates when battery should be replaced.

Monitors tank levels by utilizing the C-Level™ floatless sensor.
The SJE Level Monitor™ CL system is a convenient way to monitor tank levels by utilizing a
scalable LED bargraph to represent the level as a percentage of a full tank. The adjustable
alarm is easy to set using the Alarm Level and Set buttons on the touch pad. As the liquid
level reaches the installer-specified alarm set point, the audible alarm is activated. The

This wide-angle or narrow-angle control switch offers reliable low current control for AC and DC
applications in water and sewage. The internal switching mechanism has sealed gold cross-point
contacts for reliable low current operation. Common applications include PLC (programmable logic

SENSOR FLOAT® AND
SENSOR FLOAT® MINI CONTROL FLOATS
Mercury-activated, narrow-angle float switches designed to activate pump control panels and alarms.
This narrow-angle sensing device is used to accurately monitor liquid levels in sewage and non-
potable water applications. The Sensor Float® control switch is not sensitive to rotation and is
suitable for use with intrinsically safe circuits. Contact SJE Rhombus regarding specific intrinsically
safe applications.
The control switch turns on (closes) when the switch tips slightly above horizontal signaling a high
level, and turns off (opens) when the switch drops slightly below horizontal.

• 125/250 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 5 Amps
• Flexible 18 gauge, 2 conductor SJOW, water-resistant (CPE) cable
• Mercury tilt switch: single pole, single throw, mercury to mercury contacts hermetically sealed in a steel
capsule and epoxy sealed in a float housing
• Control differential of 1 cm (.5 inches) above or below horizontal

SUB-X™ TRANSMITTER
Submersible level transmitter designed for continuous level monitoring.
The Sub-X™ transmitter measures the hydrostatic pressure of the water above the sensor
and outputs a 4-20 mA signal proportional to the level. The robust design provides a reliable
and low maintenance solution for level control applications, including:
• Sewage and effluent lift stations
• Stormwater pump stations
• Non-potable water systems
• Tanks, wet wells and reservoirs

isolation barrier
