Ruby Bridges Goes to School


On this day in 1960, a law was
passed in New Orleans, Louisiana in
the US. The law declared that public
schools could no longer be
segregated.

Before then, there had been schools


for Black children and schools for
White children.
Ruby Bridges was the first Black
