Worksheet Subject: Physics
1. A point light source is kept in front of a convex mirror at a distance of 40 cm. The focal
length of the mirror is 40 cm. Find the position of the image.
Ans-
2. Show the formation of image in a convex mirror when the object is (i) At infinity (ii) At
any other point.
3. Write down some uses of concave mirrors.
Ans- Concave mirrors are used as headlights, torches, head mirrors, solar furnaces,
microscopes, telescopes, etc.
4. Differentiate between Concave and convex mirrors.

5. At what distance should an object be placed in front of concave mirror of focal length 50
cm so that a real image of triple of its size is obtained?
6. Show that in a plain mirror, the distance between mirror and object is equal to the distance
between the mirror and the image.

7. Draw a ray diagram of a concave mirror when the object is between the centre of
curvature and focus.

8. Which mirror will you prefer to use as a rear-view mirror?

A convex mirror is preferred as a rear view mirror because it has a wider field of view as
compared to a plane mirror of same size

9. Differentiate between real and virtual images.

10.Two plane mirror is kept at 90 degrees. Find the number of images if an object is kept
symmetrically between the two mirrors.
Ans- 360/0=360/90=4
n-1=n-4=3
11.Upto what maximum distance from a concave mirror, the image can be obtained? What
will be the location of the object then?
Ans-The maximum distance that can be obtained in concave mirror is infinity. For this case the object has
to be at focus
12.An object is brought from a far distance towards a concave mirror. How do the nature
position and size of the image change?
Ans- When an object is brought towards the concave mirror, the position of the
image moves away from the mirror, and the size increases and it remains
inverted
13.Write down the characteristics of images formed by plane mirror.

14.Show the image formation of an extended object formed by a plane mirror.

Ans-
