Implementing Micro-Video Lessons for Science 5 at Talimundok Elementary School

I. Introduction

As a Grade 5 Science Teacher at Talimundok Elementary School, I am thrilled to share

our journey of integrating micro-video lessons into our curriculum. These videos, developed by
Sir Christian Lorenze Panoncio of Sta. Maria Elementary School and myself, Ma'am Rica A.
Nucum, have been quality assured by the region and are now implemented in schools for Grade
5 across our division. Grounded in related literature advocating for the integration of
multimedia resources in education, these micro-videos promise to enhance student
engagement and comprehension of key scientific concepts, including conductors and insulators,
and changes in materials in the presence of heat.

II. Preparation

Before implementation, rigorous preparations were undertaken to ensure the seamless

delivery of micro-video lessons to our Grade 5 learners. Collaborating with Sir Panoncio, we
meticulously designed the content of the videos, incorporating short experiments to promote
experiential learning. Technical aspects, such as the availability of multimedia equipment and
platforms for dissemination, were carefully addressed to facilitate the smooth delivery of the
lessons. Additionally, supplementary materials were developed to complement the micro-
videos and reinforce students' understanding of the scientific principles presented.

III. Implementation and Engagement in Class

The implementation phase witnessed a surge in student engagement and participation

within our Grade 5 science classes. Leveraging the micro-videos as instructional tools,
classroom dynamics were transformed as students actively interacted with the content, eagerly
participating in discussions and hands-on activities. The inclusion of real-life examples and
experiments featured in the videos not only captured students' interest but also facilitated
deeper conceptual understanding. Moreover, the interactive nature of the micro-videos
catered to diverse learning styles, allowing for personalized and differentiated instruction
tailored to the needs of each student.

IV. Outcomes and Impact on the Teaching-Learning Process

The integration of micro-video lessons has yielded tangible outcomes and positively
impacted the teaching-learning process at Talimundok Elementary School. Firstly, it has

enhanced students' retention and application of scientific concepts, as evidenced by improved

performance in assessments and sustained engagement during classroom activities.
Furthermore, it has empowered teachers to adopt innovative pedagogical approaches,
fostering a dynamic and student-centered learning environment. The pilot testing of these
micro-videos in the Division of Mabalacat City underscores their efficacy and scalability,
affirming their potential to revolutionize science education beyond our immediate context.

In conclusion, the implementation of micro-video lessons for Science 5 at Talimundok

Elementary School represents a significant step towards fostering experiential and engaging
learning experiences for our Grade 5 learners. Building upon the success of this initiative, we
remain committed to leveraging multimedia resources to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking,
and scientific inquiry among our students, thereby nurturing their holistic development as
lifelong learners.
