process is ongoing and should be investigated.This test is based on the fact inflamatory and Necrotic
process cause an alteration in Blood proteins,resulting in aggregation of RBCs,which marks them
heavier and mor likely tofall.rapidly
When placed in a special vertical test tube ESR should not be used to screen a sympomatic patients
for disease it is most useful for diagnosis of inflammatory disease if the patient is being treated whith
steroids,the ESR wil decrease with clinical improvement.
RAISED ESR IS FOUND IN :
1.) any acute or chronic infection like TB,syphilis ,salpingitis,appendicitis,nephritis,endocarditic.
2.)Extensive inflammation / cell destruction like osteoarthritis,fractures,fevers.
3.)Acute myocardial infection.
