Method of Submission: Moodle and Turnitin.

Format of Submission: PDF

General Instructions:

i. For this assignment, you have to write a journal review of at least 1 paper (you may choose short papers

the content of your texts. You need to present all the papers reviewed as a cohesive whole. (At least one

of these papers should be a publication from within the last 5 years). You may choose a single paper if

you are confident enough to analyse the paper in 3 pages. If you submit just a single page then it will be

rejected.

ii. Use Times New Roman Font Size 12 with 1.5 line spacing, all pages should be numbered (except the

first page), and should have 1/2-inch indent before every paragraph. No hand-written papers will be

accepted.

iii. The assignment length should not be more than 5 pages (or, 1500 words) and should be a minimum

of 3 pages. References and appendices added beyond 5 pages are acceptable.

iv. Your content should be critical and your language impeccable. Please make sure you edit and re-edit

the draft several times over to do away with any errors. Your writing should be academic and formal.

Please use all the skills that are being discussed in class.

v. Once you are done with your research paper, you have to submit the draft on Turnitin as well as Moodle

(by April 26th, 2024). Please note, the assignment submission deadline will NOT BE EXTENDED under any

circumstances.
Writing Tips:

i. You should begin the review by explaining the relevance of your research area and the papers you have

chosen without using the pronoun “I”, anywhere in the paper unless it is absolutely necessary.

ii. You have to clearly identify the research question/argument in the introduction.

iii. You can highlight any difference in methodology or argument between the 2 papers and explain their

advantages/disadvantages.

iv. You can s paraphrase/summarize the methodologies/results/conclusions/discussions in the paper and

include relevant citations wherever applicable.

v. Extra marks will be given when you give your own critical input in your analysis.

vi. Use signalling phrases and transition words such as “Furthermore…”, “As the authors demonstrate…”,

“However…”, “Like…”, etc.

vii. Try using present tense as much as possible. For example: “The author discusses” and not “the author

discussed”. However, you may use the past tense in certain situations such as when you compare and

contrast. For example, “In the previous article, the researcher discussed the advantages of conventional

reactors…, however Swamy [3] highlights that ….”

viii. Your submission should be written in clear and error free academic language and should not be

plagiarized.

ix. Remember, no assignments will be accepted post the final submission date.

request you to please take this seriously.
