I found the article "Crowds" written in the book Academic Encounters-Cambridge very
informative. While I agree with many of the ideas the book presents, there are also a few points
that I would like to rebut. The article also stated clearly the crowd phenomena as well as
explaining the behavior in theory. Crowd effect in many cases, it will get people excited and
create beautiful moments. On the other hand, it can also cause great tragedies in life.
To be honest, this article has clearly demonstrated the phenomenon of crowds, how it attracts
people when there is an attractive activity. It is an action that no one can predict. That is why
some sociologists and psychologists have explained the behavior of that crowd. Another issue
with emotional behavior, in my experience, is creating unanticipated injury. It makes everyone's
sense of panic uncontrollable and then can greatly affect the people around them, both physically
and mentally. According to the information that the author gives in the article, the behavior of the
crowd also leads to tragedy. For example, there was a nightclub in Italy that suddenly appeared
with tear gas bullets, causing the crowd to panic and run away, trampling each other, killing six
people.
The power of a group is really important to my friends and people around me, but sometimes it
can also have an impact on complete strangers. I agree with this author's point of view. First, I
would like to answer the question posed in this article: "Have you ever had an experience like
either of these?". I have experienced it before. That's when I went to see Hoang Dung's musical
performance. When he started singing, everyone, including me, began to hum along. After that,
turn on the phone's flash to make the show more brilliant. I once experienced the crowd effect.
Especially in 2018, when football player Quang Hai kicked the goal of the Uzbekistan team in the
midst of such a snowy scene. The fans howled and clapped their hands when we saw such a
beautiful kick.
As mentioned above, there are a few points I disagree with. The information that the author
thinks is "you are walking to work when you see a crowd at the corner and you still walk towards
it even though you are in a hurry". This is probably not mob behavior in my opinion. Since it
really doesn't affect me too much, there will be people just out of curiosity who come to see what
it is. But there will also be people when they are really in a hurry. They will not care and just pass
by normally. Not only that, but I still have a concepts that I still don't quite understand. That is
the concept of "institutional behavior". Although I know it is contrary to collective behavior, I
actually feel confused about the word "institution".

I enjoyed reading this article. It allows me to critically reflect on how collective behavior
occurs. The author has presented many valuable points that will help me gain profound insight
into each group activity or in a crowd. I was able to see and identify a safe crowd without
fighting. This also helps to lessen the number of people who die.
