Next week will be wet and wild, from Arizona to Massachusetts. All the ingredients are coming together for an important southern track storm.

THANKSGIVING PERIOD STORM GETS GOING ON MONDAY The Thanksgiving Week storm will cross Northern Mexico Monday night (500mb shown). This track is quite far south... good news for Texas and the Delta where rains will be widespread. Coupled with the storm will be an abnormally strong ridge over the Gulf of Mexico and SE pumping moisture and warmth into the system.

Pre-storm temperatures will be 8-16 degrees F above normal on Sunday (right map). Widespread 70s and some 80s (above) will be seen from Texas to the Carolinas.

Mondayimportant rains reach the nations southern HRW crop. Storm modeling has given and taketh lately from this area, as the model has been unsure over the past three days.

Next week-The exact placement of this Thanksgiving storm will be important for Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas as the system exits Mexico and heads into Texas. Todays GFS shows heavy rain for W TX and SW OK, areas where recent storms have missed (right map). Moisture into this region will benefit this regions winter crops and cool season vegetative growth for grazing and feeding.

Rains for the second week of November were nearby but missed SW OK and much of W TX (Nov 9-15 percent of norm).

The Thanksgiving Week Storm will give a drink to half of the nations winter wheat crop. The map above shows where winter wheat is grown and percent of production.
