2.8 Pre-Spud Requirements
A special attention should be given to SH/FOR Procedures as support for all operations on rig site.
1. Check rig water supply: The rig should have provision of 1000m3 of water. In case this is not
achievable, plan for water Trucks.
2. Mud preparation: 24hours before drilling are necessary to manufacture mud in the storage and
circulation tanks with a minimum volume of 350 m3 bentonetic mud.
3. Check that the required materials for drilling fluids (including LCM) and cement for surface section are
complete.
4. Confirm the alignment of the derrick, rotary table over the conductor pipe.
5. Measure well head, cellar and RT to GL. Record this on the daily report.
6. Prepare the 20’’ 3/4 3K BOP’s and Mud cross.
7. Confirm that the flow line is properly spaced out.
8. Install and test cellar pumps and lines leading to cutting pits (A back up cellar pump must be available
on location).
9. Install mud pumps liners 6’’½ to accommodate 3200 Lpm at minimal pump pressure.
10. Perform mud pumps efficiency tests and record in the daily drilling report.
11. Make sure that the proper sized shale shaker screens are installed and there is sufficient stock at rig site.
Confirm this with mud engineer and tool pusher.
12. Make sure that the drill string components have been inspected, cleaned and calibrated as per Sonatrach
policies.
13. Inspect Stabilizers for all sections. Preferred stabilizers are spiral integral blade with 03 blades.
a maximum wear of 1/16’’ is tolerated.
14. Ensure solids control equipment is functioning. It should be run at all times.
15. Rack back in advance all 5” drill pipe to be used to run the cement stinger for the casing cement job.
16. Make sure the stinger is on site, ‘’O’’ rings are in good condition, and spare parts are available on site.
17. IPN beams to centralize the 18’’5/8 casing must be on location.
18. Test the cement unit once arrived to rig site. The well site supervisor has to make sure that all checks and
tests were performed. All pressure tests have to be recorded.
19. Conduct a pre-spud meeting on site.
20. Review 26 & 16’’ hole well program section before spud.

Ensure have the Running tool with tester plug & wear bushing 21''1/4 3K + Running tool with
Tester plug & wear bushing 13''5/8 5K + Running tool with tester plug & wear bushing 11'' 5K

N.B: all wear bushing should be installed while drilling 16’’, 12 ¼’’, 8 ½ ‘’ and 6’’ sections.

 Verified that there is 42’’ conductor pipe on cellar, if not, install it on cellar.

GMH-1 Drilling Program TP169 Page 12

3. Surface Section – 26" Hole x 18’’5/8 Casing
3.1. Section Objective: Primary objectives are to isolate the weak surface formations sever losses zone in senonian
carbonat and provide a good casing shoe for drilling the next section. The 18’’5/8 surface casing should be set
approximately +/-377 m.
3.2. Risk Assessment
Risk Mitigation Contingency
 If total losses occur, POOH
 Maintain mud weight out at to prevent stucking.
Loss 1.08sg or lower as possible  If seepage or partial losses occur, pump LCM
 Stop drilling in MWout is > plugs with recommended concentration
Circulation
1.08sg or MW in is > 1.05sg according to the mud program

 Ensure bit has a center jet

 Limit trip speed at 2minutes per stand
Bit Balling  Add mud detergents to help
when bit balling is suspected
prevent balling
3.3. Recommendations:
1. Make sure the mud properties are appropriate, mud weight to be kept as low as possible, dilution and cleaning
sand trap are required.
2. Perform mud pump efficiency tests and record.
3. Maintain din=1.05 sg and dout=1.08 sg.
4. Make sure mud has sufficient surfactant to minimize bit and stabilizer balling.
5. Check water storage and ensure maximum water reserve (optimize consumption)
6. Avoid overloading the annulus and high ECD this prevent induced losses.
7. In case of partial losses occur with Pump LCM.
8. In case of Total losses pull out immediately with filling the annulus minimum twice the steel volume off DP;in
order to set cement plug.
9. Set cmt plug :
If total losses plugged (colmaté) continue drilling according to program.
If total losses not plugged (non colmaté) continue with blind drilling according to berkaoui procedure,
(confirm with DSI).
10. Make sure the stinger is on site, "O" rings are in good condition, and spare parts are available on site.
11. Inspect casing head and associated equipment. Ensure all components are available to N/U 21"1/4 BOP stack for
drilling the 16" section.
12. Inspect 18"5/8 casing to ensure sufficient length to the planned section depth.
13. Make final cut on conductor pipe.

Section Objective: The target of this section is to isolate Senonian Salifere of Albian in next section by 13”3/8 casing.
Casing point is approximately 50m in Cenomanian. ACP packer should be incorporated in the column in order to avoid
any contact of Salifer with aquifer formations while drilling next section.
NB: This action according to (procedure Haoud Berkaoui field section: 4page 02)
4.1. Risk Assessment
Risk Mitigation Contingency
 Use short neck between bit and NB
Stab to avoid hole spiraling.
 Use very low backreaming and reaming
 Avoid excessive changes in drilling
Tight Hole/ weights
parameters specially infront risky
Stuck Pipe  Spot fresh water across sticky salt
stucking formations
sections.
 Consider a short trip back to casing
 Spot 15% HCL across the Turonian
shoe after drilling through
Cenomanien
4.2. Recommendations:
1. Mud tanks to be properly cleaned to receive OBM.Centrifuges to be operational, mud bucket operational on rig floor.
2. Oil base mud should be on location and ready for change out into the system. It Ensure all materials and equipment
required is on location. BHA components should be tallied for length; OD, ID, and fishing neck (if applicable) and
record this information.
3. Check the characteristic and the quantities of the mud delivered.
4. Stabilizers used in this hole section should checked and preferred to be 1/16" undergauge. The near bit stabilizer fish
neck should not exceed 60cm (The stabilizer type is: 3 integrated blade (IBS).
5. Have primary drill bit ready with proper nozzles installed. Backup bit should be on location.
6. Ensure BHA will have a float valve and TOTCO ring.
7. Bit runner should be on location and monitor all the drilling parameters.
8. It is important that consistent drilling parameters (WOB, RPM, LPM) be used with little variation to avoid hole
spiralling and get maximum bit performance. The driller should be on the brake at all-time monitoring these parameters.
9. Avoid drilling with one Mud pump even for short time.
10. Inspect 13 3/8" casing to ensure sufficient length according to the planned section depth.
11. Ensure 13”3/8 pups joints; bottom & top plug conventional and 2nd top plug for ACP Packer
12. Inspect casing head housing and associated equipment to ensure all components are available to N/UP 13 5/8" BOP
stack for drilling the 12 ¼" section.(the CHH 18”5/8 x 20”3/4 3K must be recovered if 13”3/8 x 13”5/8 5K is
available)
13. Cement Company should have a tank on site to pump required volume of cement displacement volume.
