Abstract - The project aims to develop a robust fault detection system for a 3-phase transmission
line using Arduino Uno and various electronic components. The system incorporates a 16x2 LCD
display for real-time fault status, relay modules for controlling the power flow, push buttons for
manual intervention, and a thermal sensor for monitoring temperature variations. The project utilizes
a combination of hardware and software to detect and respond to faults promptly.

Component Required: -
1. Arduino Uno 9. 7805 MOSFET
2. 4-channel relay module 10. Capacitor
3. 1-channel 5V relay module 11. Diode
4. 16x2 LCD display 12. Plain PCB
5. Push button 13. Jumper wire
6. 1k resistor 14. Thermal sensor
7. 10k potentiometer 15. Buzzer
8. Transformer 9-0-9V, 500mA 16. Wire

Circuit Design - The circuit is designed to monitor a 3-phase transmission line. The Arduino Uno
interfaces with relay modules to control power distribution, while the 16x2 LCD display provides real-time
fault information. The thermal sensor monitors temperature, and a buzzer provides audible alerts. Manual
intervention is possible through push buttons, enabling quick response to faults.

Transmission Line Fault Detection

Working Principle: -
1. The Arduino Uno processes data from the thermal sensor and other sensors.
2. Fault detection algorithms analyse incoming data to identify abnormalities.
3. Relay modules are employed to isolate faulty sections and ensure system integrity.
4. Real-time status is displayed on the LCD, allowing for immediate visual feedback.
5. Manual override is possible via push buttons for emergency situations.
Fault Detection Process:
The system continuously monitors the transmission line parameters.
Upon detecting a fault (overload, short circuit, etc.), the Arduino triggers the appropriate relay module to
isolate the faulty section.
The LCD display updates with fault information, and the buzzer provides an audible alert.
The thermal sensor assists in identifying faults related to overheating.
The system can be manually tested using the push button to simulate faults for verification.

Future Enhancements: - Future developments may include integrating communication modules for
remote monitoring, expanding fault detection algorithms, and enhancing the user interface for more intuitive
control. The project lays the foundation for advanced fault detection systems in power distribution networks

Result: -

Conclusion: - The 3-phase transmission line fault detection system enhances the reliability of power
distribution by swiftly identifying and isolating faults. Its real-time monitoring capabilities and user-friendly
interface make it a valuable tool for maintenance teams, ensuring a resilient and efficient power transmission
network.
