Good day, teachers. First of all, I want to congratulate everyone for a job well done program

you all worked hard for.

Reading is an important skill everyone should possess, if they can read, they can do lots of

things. In line with reading is to also possess comprehension, which is beneficial for everyone, because

with this it helps to improved reasoning skills insightful writing, fast reading, and better performance

in many subjects.

Handling students is a tough job especially if you are also a student just like them. You gave

all your blood, sweat, and tears to make sure that your program will be successful and as what I

observed, it indeed exceeds our expectations anyone engaged and learn a lot from you event. So once

again, congratulations everyone! – Ms. Mharloth Ocumen of Basic Education Department,

Introduction

A reading development program is an organized way to developing reading abilities while also
building a greater understanding and enthusiasm for literature. Begin with an assessment of the
participants provide reading level, strengths, and areas for improvement. This could involve tests,
reading inventories, or conversational evaluations. Set realistic and attainable reading objectives
together based on the assessment results and the participant's interests and aspirations. Goals may
include increasing reading speed, enhancing comprehension, broadening vocabulary, or discovering
new genres.

This reading inventory helps a lot to know the capacity and ability of each student by reading
and answering questions that are given. Given that some students are capable of reading but are now
capable of comprehending, this program does help to adjust and comprehend how the teachers will
solve the problem that is encountered with the reading inventory program.

Implementing a thorough reading development program that targets participants' particular

needs and interests will help create a lifelong love of reading while also empowering them to become
confident and proficient readers.

Highlights of the Accomplishment

This is the picture of my group together with the Grade 7 pupils, when we were conducting our

reading inventory. We finished reading silent and oral in a span of 2 hours.

Preparation for the program, we had our dry run that happen on the auditorium and was able to

finished our certificate and sash as early as it is.

6
This is the day of the program MR. and MS. Education. We had our little practice before the program

starts and successfully performed it. And was able to finished the program with a big smile of success.

Programs Projects and Activities

A. Reading Inventory Comprehensive Test

Since we are very focused on our reading inventory comprehensive test, we are not able to capture

some pictures so that we can focus on the readers and to assess them properly.

7
B. Reading Inventory Program

We make sure to do our best to finish and do our task responsibly. We have a very short time to

prepare, but we are able to see good results with the program. And our Grade 7 candidates were able

to go home with the title of Mr. English 2024 and 2nd runner-up.

8
Means of Verification

Everything is indeed a roller coaster ride. We are finally getting to experience how hard it is to create

a program, especially with a low budget. But we still remain calm and do our best for the program.

Finally, creating memories with new people and being able to see how wide our knowledge is to help

the students in need of help.

Best Practices of the Basic Education Department in Reading

I observed that the pupils of Grade 7 Peter were very happy when we announced that we were

having our reading inventory program. I really see how they were engaging and eager to read

something new. We were able to see how well-behaved they were and how they respected teachers.

In terms of reading, they were eager to read, especially in English. They read with no hassle, which

helped us finish early. We can see how their teachers in each subject pay attention to their students

diligently because of how well they read, how they pronounce, and their tone in reading.

Challenges/ Issues Encountered and Actions Taken

We encountered lots of challenges and problems, especially with our schedules. In reading

inventory, we are actually not rushing things, but when we reach out to their coordinator, they will

end their class in April, so with no hesitation, we tried our best to find the right time for us to have a

schedule for the comprehensive test. and when all things are settled, another problem happens, which

is that the program is not on a good date. Because of that, we only have 1 week remaining to do all

the things like practice, decoration, programs, the schedule of the auditorium, etc. We settled

everything in a span of 2 days to make sure everything was good and well prepared, even in such a

short period of time. We also have a conflict with the program schedule, which only gives us 5 days

to prepare everything because the students were doing their scouting. We have no choice but to

reschedule our date, which is earlier than we expected. We have a short period of time to prepare,

which causes conflict in financial budgeting and time management. But thanks to the cooperation of

my classmates who wanted to also finish it early, we did spend lots of time preparing and lots of time

gathering our energy. We are also very grateful to Ma'am Mharloth Ocumen, Ma'am Shaira Atienza,

and Dean Arnel Patanao for helping us make things easier and better. With the help of everyone, we

finally finished our reading inventory without a hassle.
