Phrasal verb là gì?

Phrasal verb là một loại từ được hình thành bằng cách kết hợp một động từ với một hoặc
nhiều giới từ. Cấu trúc này thường tạo ra một ý nghĩa mới hoặc biểu thị một hành động cụ
thể.

Ví dụ 1: "Turn down"

Nghĩa: Từ chối hoặc giảm âm lượng.

Ví dụ: Jane turned down his invitation to the party. (Jane từ chối lời mời đến bữa tiệc của anh
ấy.)

Ví dụ 2: "Break up"

Nghĩa: Chấm dứt một mối quan hệ hoặc tình yêu.

Ví dụ: John and Mary decided to break up after years of dating. (John and Mary quyết định
chấm dứt mối quan hệ sau nhiều năm hẹn hò.)

Một số loại phrasal verb trong tiếng Anh

1. Transitive Phrasal Verbs: Là các phrasal verb yêu cầu một tân ngữ sau nó.

Ví dụ: "Mai turned off the lights." (Mai tắt đèn.)

2. Intransitive Phrasal Verbs: Là các phrasal verb không yêu cầu tân ngữ theo sau.

Ví dụ: "Tom woke up early." (Tom thức dậy sớm.)

3. Separable Phrasal Verbs: Có thể tách động từ và giới từ trong câu.

Ví dụ: "Mary looked the information up." (Mary tra cứu thông tin.)

4. Inseparable Phrasal Verbs: Không thể tách động từ và giới từ trong câu.

Ví dụ: "Nick and Daniel take after their mother." (Nick và Daniel giống mẹ của họ.)
