The New Rygolic Host:

Troops and Tactics

Preface _________________________________________________
This field manual is part of FM series 100-X-8X. The other volumes in this series are FM
100-1-8X (The Federal States-Army: Troops and Tactics), FM 100-2-8X (The Army of the Ebon
Forest: Troops and Tactics) and FM 100-4-8X (The Atom Barons of Santagria: Troops and
Tactics). Each volume in the series describes the range of troop types and characteristics of an
opposing force to the Federal States-Army.
This document, FM 100-3-8X, describes the known elements of the New Rygolic Host.
Used together, they form a thorough reference on any challengers the F.S-A. may expect to face,
as well as its own strengths and weaknesses in comparison to them.
This manual represents the definitive (condensed) source of unclassified information on
Rygolic ground and rotary-wing air forces: their abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and general
availability to a commander. The Main Threats Directorate at the Drekfort Military Development
Center, Langport, Vansa, updates these manuals periodically to provide the most current
unclassified information available.

* This manual supersedes FM 100-3-8X Edition 0.4, 10/11/82.

CHAPTER 1

OVERVIEW
The New Rygolic Host (N.R.H.)
constitutes all known land and air elements of
the autonomous border security force of the
Rygo Heartlands. N.R.H. forces at large are
coordinated by the Rygonet radio network
which is broadcast to transmission and relay
units on a per-team basis across their entire
area of operation; the nature of its central
command apparatus is unknown.
While the N.R.H. tends to deploy
understrength, the speed of their
replenishment along the front belies restraint
rather than reluctance. The size of the average
Rygole force is compensated by advanced
weapons which surpass the likes of even
F.S-A manufacture. In truth, the question of
Rygolic procurement has never been
satisfactorily answered; as a rule, there are
always more than intelligence can verify.
Constructs do not fear death, nor can
they truly conceive it. The Rygo way of war
discards the notions of loss, gain, and defeat-
they evaluate conflict as nothing more than a
test of endurance and the attrition of numbers.
Sacrifice is the expected conclusion of every
maneuver. Formations engaging N.R.H. forces
should make full use of this willingness to
sustain casualties and tendency to penny
packet high value assets. Always engage
Rygolic forces with numerical superiority and
simultaneous presentations of your own
elements.

FACTIONAL STRENGTH:
Fast and flexible ground forces.
FACTIONAL QUIRK:
Advanced, expensive weaponry.
FACTIONAL WEAKNESS:
Lackluster numbers.

CHAPTER 2

TACOM (TACTICAL COMMAND)

The Rygo lack the concept of officership. Their closest equivalents to command units are
dedicated transmission constructs with electronic warfare and communications capabilities
sufficient to receive orders remotely from the Heartland. Destruction of local transmission units
may cause order dissension, IFF malfunction or total disengagement after only a few minutes of
severance. Moreover, Rygonet order computing requires the brainpower from all connected
constructs to operate at max efficiency. In the best case, a major Rygo loss can cause a global
stall in operations. Hence these transmission units are as invaluable to the Rygonet as one of our
lieutenants is to his men, and they are guarded just as judiciously.
Occasionally, experimental transmission units will be deployed with the forward army.
These units operate very differently from the ubiquitous Node Teams of the standard Rygolic
ground force. The presence of even one of these units indicates another brief and volatile change
of doctrine. Commanders encountering them should proceed with all due caution.

Fitted with trademark “checkerboard”

to nearly any Rygo tactical element -NO DATA-
heretofore seen on the battlefield. Node
teams serve in an advisory capacity behind
the main line to ensure forward units are
acting in max operational capacity.

Node Teams are equipped exclusively as

riflemen and are reliant on infantry of the
main force for fire support.

The presence of four members in the

transmission team is a mere tactical
redundancy to guarantee that a force can
remain operative should one be killed.

FEDERAL STATES-ARMY - DREKFORT M.D.C.

TYPE: BIOLOGICAL TRANSMISSION TOWER

REMARKS -NO DATA-

An inert yet animate spire of manufactured
muscle which has been woven into antennae
and encased in composited aluminum. The
Ganglion is effectively a miniaturization of
the Rygonet command towers broadcasting
strategic orders from the borders of the
Heartland. Designed strictly for command
efficiency, the Ganglion’s advantage in
range and order processing comes at the
expense of all motor and sensory functions.

The Ganglion is helpless without an escort,

so it is usually seen in the company of tanks
and mechanized infantry.

Brigade (3, 0’’), NBC, Rygonet (0’’), Strider

This unit uses a 40x40mm infantry base. It

can use Brigade during the Fire Phase,
allowing up to 3 units to resolve their
attacks simultaneously. These units are
ineligible to lend or receive actions via
Rygonet during a Brigade activation. The
Stoma is considered to be in basal contact
with units inside of any garrion it touches.

FEDERAL STATES-ARMY - DREKFORT M.D.C.

TYPE: BIPEDAL TRANSMISSION UNIT

REMARKS
Fast and well-protected, the Stoma is an
experimental transmission unit which
operates exclusively in close command.

Mounted on an unmodified Ultraviolet leg

chassis, the Stoma’s turret is almost totally -NO DATA-
occupied by coils of unique “parasitic
relays”. Residual room is given over to a
piloting brain and a simple radio receiver.

The Stoma does not have an onboard radio

transmitter. Instead, the Stoma’s relays
establish direct, wired connections to all
units within a small radius. The result is
nearly instantaneous order resolution and
devastating coordinated barrages.

CHAPTER 3

INFANTRY
Construct infantry are the dauntless pawns of the Rygolic war machine. Lacking the
sensation of pain or the intuition of fear, constructs make for superlative soldiers as long as there
is something around to tell them what to do. Constructs are equipped with the latest and best
armaments of N.R.H procurement, but the expense of such means most infantry deployments run
thin. Thus constructs are fitted with versatility in mind and units can serve adequately in
multiple roles on the battlefield.

REMARKS
N.R.H. doctrine prefers flexibility over
resilience. Legionnaires squads are often
split into separate “tactical teams” to permit
envelopment and increase volume of fire at
the expense of unit survival.

Tactical teams are equipped identically to

Legionnaires, though with reduced ammo -NO DATA-
capacity to the lack of an additional bearer.
The 5mm Electron assault rifle is supremely
effective against soft targets at range, but
lacks punch in close quarters. Legionnaires
compensate against infantry with the Mantle
20mm grenade launcher and against tanks
with the Radiance 140mm ATGM, which
supplants a conventional rocket launcher.

-NO DATA-
Rygo equipment is both reliable and
effective, but it is costly to produce. This
puts enough of a strain on their procurement
facilities that far more constructs are made
than can be feasibly armed to specification.

MEAT IMITATOR

Infantry, H1, S32’’ M4’’, Q3, T1/1/1

At the beginning of each round, the

Simulacrum automatically imitates the
closest identified enemy unit. The
Simulacrum gains that unit’s weapons, stats,
and unit class, but the Simulacrum’s base
size always remains 40x40mm regardless of
its class. It cannot imitate Watercraft,
armored trains, or units with bases larger
than 40x60mm. All of the Simulacrum’s
weapons have infinite ammo. In CC, it can
choose to mimic any enemy with which it is
in basal contact. If a Simulacrum enters CC
with another Simulacrum, both of them
immediately die. If a Simulacrum is closest
to a unit it cannot mimic, it mimics the next
closest valid unit.

FEDERAL STATES-ARMY - DREKFORT M.D.C.

A halfway state between pure biomass and
modeled construct. Rather than carrying any

technical profile. -NO DATA-
Mimicry has size constraints, but the
presence of complex ammo-regenerative

VEHICLES & REMOTE GUNS

While other armies take pains to escape death, the Rygolic ground forces frequently
sacrifice protection for mobility and firepower. the N.R.H. presumes that a tank is its own
deterrent- that the cost of killing it will be higher for the enemy than for the Rygo. N.R.H.
vehicles, like their infantry, are fast, dangerous, multirole attackers, but they are thinly armored
for their price. Heavy tracked vehicles are installed with hard-kill active protection systems to
increase their survivability under fire.

TYPE: LOGISTICS AIRCRAFT

REMARKS
N.R.H. rockets are deployed in countless
configurations, but they are used most
commonly for resupply and infantry
transport. Rather than using a drone,
rockets are driven from an unsealed
cockpit to allow quick replacement of the
pilot in the event of a non-disabling strike
on the vehicle.

Supply rockets are nimble enough to land

in woods, making them ideal for landing
legionnaires for combat engineering or
blitz deployment.
