If your position allows it, you have some freedom to choose between working more or less hours per
week, which is compensated with more or less leave (vacation) hours. Your choice has no influence on
your salary. With your supervisor you can make changes to this agreement yearly.
On this form you are asked to indicate your preference, but the final decision needs to be made in
collaboration with your supervisor. The final decision needs to be formalized on paper.
Employee has a legal entitlement to at least four weeks' paid leave per year, in accordance with European
Directive 2003/88/EC. No exceptions are possible. This means that, also for this minus variant, a leave
balance must remain of at least 4 * 36 = 144 hours per year. It depends on the circumstances of each
individual case as to whether a minus variant of 1.0 FTE is possible and desirable.
Example 1: Providing that the employee has sufficient additional age-related hours, the statutory
minimum will be respected.
Example 2: An exceptional agreement involving the employee actually working 38 hours for a four-week
period constitutes a reduction in leave of 88 hours (instead of 96 hours).
