21. Prove that | 1 - x + | x || is continuous
[Sol. Let f (x) = 1 − x + | x |, g (x) = | x |. The
gof = g (f (x)) = g (1 - x + | x | ) = |1 − x + | x ||
We know that f (x) and g (x) both are continuous ≤x ∈ R,
therefore, gof = | 1 - x + | x || is continuous ≤x ∈ R. [Art. 2.43 (1)]
