ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING PROGRAM

ALL FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE. Payment is required no later than 30 days prior to program start date by money
order/bank check (no cash or personal checks) or credit card. For credit card payment, please call 207-882-6576. Money
order/bank checks should be made payable to “County of Lincoln” mailed to the address listed below.
NOTE: Any payments made LESS than 30 days prior will be charged an additional $100 late fee.

Screenings: Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will do a telephone screening after the application has been received to
review health questions, medications, program rules, answer any questions, etc. If necessary, an in-person screening may
be required.

Breathalyzer and Drug Tests: Participants will be breathalyzed at the start of the program. Do not consume ANY
ALCOHOL AT LEAST 24 HOURS before the program (including Nyquil and mouthwash). Anyone found to be under the
influence or tests positive for alcohol or any illegal substances will not be allowed into the program. Any fees paid will be
forfeited and the individual will be transported to the sending county jail to serve their entire sentence. Drug testing for
illegal substances may be done if there is reasonable suspicion of drug use.

Medication: You must bring all CURRENT medications – both prescribed and over-the-counter – IN THE ORIGINAL
BOTTLES.Medications will be logged in by staff and kept locked up except during staff supervised medication dispense
times. Do NOT set up your pills in a weekly pill box as they must be taken from the original bottle. All injectable
medications must be in sealed, pre-dosed packaging. Do NOT leave your medications at home. Pick up and drop off items
are not allowed if you forget something. Over the counter meds such as aspirin, Tylenol, Tums, etc. are available at the
program. Please have your meds in a zip-lock bag labelled with your name.

Smoking/Vaping: Cigarette smoking and Vaping are allowed only at one location at the camp, at designated times and
under staff supervision. Bring enough cigarettes and/or vape supplies for the time you will be there. All tobacco and vape
cartridge products must be in new, unopened packaging. We reserve the option to refuse any questionable product.
Smoking and vaping in or around the cabins or other locations is strictly prohibited. Patches and nicotine gum are allowed
and encouraged for those who need it. Infractions of these rules may result in termination from the program.

Cell phones: Usage of cell phone is restricted during the program. Participants will be required to turn in their cell
phones and chargers at check in. Please have your cell phone and charger in a zip-lock bag labelled with your name. This

bag is separate from your meds bag. If you drove yourself, put your car keys in this same bag. Participants may be
allowed use of their phone at designated times at the staff’s discretion.

Parking: Parking is available at your own risk. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Wavus Camps accept no responsibility
for the safety of your vehicle or its contents. You will turn in your keys and not be allowed access to your vehicle during
the program.

Note: This program has no association with the DEEP program which you might need to attend to get your
driver’s license back. DEEP information can be found online at maine.gov.

WHAT TO BRING:
> Photo ID – driver’s license, state or school ID, passport, > Reading material, cards, cribbage board, etc.
etc. > Bedding (sleeping bag or sheets/ blanket, pillow, pad)
> Clothing for entire stay, indoors and outdoors Note: you will be sleeping on a bunk bed/mattress
> Weather appropriate work clothes for working outside > Ear plugs

The following items will not be allowed at the program. Please do not bring them.
> Pagers, laptops, electronics of any kind > Low riding, tight-fitting, spandex, yoga or workout
> Headphones, I-Pods, Portable music players pants (males and females)
> Curling irons > Short- waisted shirts, Tank tops, Short Shorts
> Mouthwash (alcohol based) > Jewelry, other than watch, ring, religious charms,
or medical alert identification
> Cologne/Perfume
> Makeup > Pocket Knives/ belt tools
> Food, drinks, candy or gum (except nicotine gum) > Sewing items, Knitting, Crocheting
> Clothing w/ Alcohol slogans or ads > Cannabis of any kind, including edibles.
Please Note: Bags will be searched at arrival. Items found that are not allowed will be held in a secure area until
completion of the program. Illegal items found will result in you being taken to jail. If you borrowed your luggage
from someone else, go through it and make sure nothing is in it that is not allowed.

Participant Rules and Regulations

1. You may not leave your assigned area without permission from staff. Leaving the assigned area or
the grounds of the program without permission can generate an escape charge.
2. You may not be in any part of the facility that has been designated off-limits, including the kitchen,
without permission from staff.
3. Smoking and vaping are allowed only at designated times in one location and under supervision. Anyone
caught smoking/vaping outside of these rules may be removed from the program.
4. No possession or attempt to possess contraband (i.e. alcohol, weapons, drugs, or pornography) is allowed.
Possession will include your person, clothing, or in an area where there is reasonable belief that the

contraband is within your control.


5. You may not be intoxicated or under the influence of any drug or substance not prescribed by a physician.
6. You may not take, disfigure, abuse, damage, or waste any property belonging to another person.
7. You must report for all head counts or roll calls.
8. You must not interfere during head counts or keep a staff person from performing their duty.
9. You must follow all reasonable directives from staff including for any emergency evacuation.
10. You must be respectful to all staff, educators, and other participants.
11. You must not harm, threaten, or attempt to exercise control over any staff member, participant or other.
12. You must turn in all medications at check-in and take them only as prescribed.
13. You must participate in community service during the day.
14. You must attend all programs in the evening.
15. You must shower at least once daily.
16. You may not enter opposite gendered sleeping areas or change bed assignments without permission.
17. No touching, hugging, or other physical contact between participants with the exception of handshakes.
18. Phones may be handed out after education for 30-60 minutes at the discretion of staff.
19. No visitors are allowed at the program site after the original drop off until pick up time.
20. Participants who drive to the program will not be allowed to enter their car again until the program ends.
Bring in everything you need for the program at the start. You will turn in your car keys and phone at check-in.
21. Lights on and wake up at 6 a.m.
22. Lights out at 10 p.m.
23. If medical attention is required for illness or injury you will be responsible for all medical costs.

ANY VIOLATION OF THESE RULES, AS WELL AS REFUSING TO PERFORM REQUIRED OR REQUESTED


WORK COULD RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE PROGRAM TO SERVE THE FULL REMAINING
SENTENCE (ALSO FORFEITING ANY FEES PAID TO THE PROGRAM).

Participants will sign a copy of these rules during the registration process to acknowledge they have
read them, understand them and agree to follow them.

Directions to Wavus Camp in Jefferson, Maine
From the south: Go north on I-95 to Exit 44 to I-295 North. Travel north to Exit 49 and bear right onto Rt 201 head
into Gardiner. Go over the river following the signs to Route 27 & 126. In approx. 1/2 mile turn left on Rte 126 and
travel 12 miles to intersection with Route 213. Turn right at the STOP sign, travel 3/4 mile and look for Wavus Camps
on the left (large yellow barn and camp sign). You can also go to Augusta and take Rt 17 East to Rt 32 and then turn
right on Rt 213 in Jefferson.
From the north: I-95 to Exit 109 South at Augusta and stay to the right headed east along Western Avenue. Enter
rotary and follow signs to Route 17 (Rockland) over the Kennebec River. Enter second rotary and take first right
following signs to Route 17. Take left at street light on to Route 17. Travel 13 miles to Route 32 on the right and
another 4 miles to Damariscotta Lake. Take right on Route 126 and go straight on 213, travel less than two miles
and look for Wavus Camps on the left (large yellow barn and camp sign)
From the east: Route 17 to Jefferson and left on to Route 32. Travel four miles to Damariscotta Lake, take right on
Route Rt 126 go straight on Rt 213, travel less than two miles to Wavus Camps on the left. Look for large yellow
barn and camp sign.
From Coastal Areas: Route 1 to Route 215 in Newcastle. Proceed north on Route 215 through Damariscotta Mills
to the intersection with Route 213. Turn right onto Route 213 (Bunker Hill Rd.) and proceed approximately eight
miles to Wavus Camps. There will be a large yellow barn with a sign for Wavus Camps on your right. Turn right onto
the Wavus Camps Road. Follow signs to parking.
