BASIC CLEANING OPERATION (DUSTING)

Assessment
1. Assess the area to be dusted.
Planning
2. Have everything ready before starting to work.
Implementation
3. Bring the dusting tray to the room and place it on the
table or under the chair. Never place it on the floor.
4. To dust room, commence at the entrance and proceed
around the room.
5. Start with the highest point to be dusted and work
downwards.
6. Use a damp cloth to avoid flicking the dust but never
use a damp cloth on articles injured by moisture. Use
metal polish for metals.
7. To prevent overlapping of strokes and skipping corners
and edges, use long straight strokes.
8. In dusting a bar, wrap the cloth around your hand and
grasp the bar as you wipe along the surface.
9. Remove dust in between bars and in crevices too small
for the hands to enter by probing a duster with a stick.
10. Never forget to dust all parts of the bed and articles
kept inside the drawer.
11. After dusting, tidy the room and return equipment in
their proper places.
