There is Hope provide access to education and income generating activities to refugees
and Malawians, and strengthen their spiritual well-being.
We are inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of
Education Coordinator. Female applicants are encouraged to apply. Only shortlisted
candidates will be acknowledged.
The Education Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing scholarships for both
secondary and tertiary education. Reporting to the Programs Manager, the following are
the duties for the position:
Core Duties
I. Program Implementation
Improve and collate all documents necessary for the program cycle: criteria
for eligibility; scholarship application form; interview guidelines, questions
and scoring sheet; Scholarship offer and Terms & Conditions agreement;
Payment schedule; Counselling visits schedule; end of the term reports and
Secondary School Monthly visiting schedule etc;
Organise and coordinate the interview process to take place each year;
prepare panellists and necessary documents; invite eligible applicants; and
oversee the short listing of candidates and consequent communication to
all applicants;
Maintain relationships with our sponsored students including Counselling;
Organise and run an Annual Scholarship Information Day at Lilambwe
Centre where potential applicants can come and learn more about our
program requirements;
Organise an annual student day with the purpose of students to meet TIH
Staff and to celebrate the year’s achievements and be envisioned for the
future;
Organise and run an Annual Alumni Day to celebrate achievements and
network with past graduates;
Create an overview of all available funding and necessary funding for the
program (existing students and new intake) in conjunction with TIH
Accountant;
Provide short updates for the TIH Newsletter;
Coordinate and conduct individual assessments of secondary school
applicants.
Discharge duties in a professional manner in adherence to TIH Employee
Handbook (Code of Conduct), not taking advantage of your position to
exploit the vulnerable.
II. Networking
Maintain relationships with the educational institutions where our students are;
Maintain relationships with the donors of the program including seeking out and
writing proposals for new funding opportunities;
Network and collaborate with Dowa District Social welfare office, and both Primary
and Secondary Schools’ administrators for lists of eligible academic candidates for
Secondary School Scholarship Program.
