INTRODUCTION
• Materials handling (hoisting) is the lifting of weight using
a hoist from one location and moving it to another location.
• Big projects such as the construction of buildings, dams,
bridges, etc. require hoisting equipment. • Hoisting equipment includes winches, chain hoists, and cranes.
• Crane is the only single machine that, as a single piece, is
capable of providing three-dimensional movement of the weight. COMMON ACCIDENTS IN LIFTING OPERATIONS
