LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH I

I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD
 Give meaning of words using TPR, pictures and body movements.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
 The learner correctly identifies the meaning of words using TPR, pictures and body
movements.
 Responds to suggested bodily movements.
C. MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES
 Recognize words through TPR, pictures and body movements.
II. CONTENT
A. Subject Matter: Give meaning of words using TPR, pictures and body movements.
B. References: MELCs in English I pg. 129, Teacher’s Guide in English I pages 304-312
C. Materials: Pictures, powerpoint, Pop-up book
III. PROCEDURE
A. REVIEW/DRILL
 REVIEW
Ask the learners about Basic Categories of words (food, animals, shape)
The teacher will show different pictures, let them classify and sort the words/pictures
according to the group they are belong.

 DRILL
The teacher will give activities to the learners and they will perform the ff.
1. Walk to the door
2. Jump three times
3. Run in place
4. Shake your head
5. Clap your hands
B. MOTIVATION
The teacher will sing the “Simon Says” and the learners will follow.
Hey! Let’s play Simon Say
When I say “Simon Says Jump”, you will jump.
When I say “Simon Says Hurray”, you shout Hurray.
But, if I don’t say “Simon Says first”, don’t move.
And that’s how we play/ sing this song.
C. PRESENTATION
The teacher will show a pop-up book. And read the story about,
“A Boy and his Best Friend”
Ben’s best friend has a friend, it is named Bantay. Bantay loves to eat bone and drink
milk. They always go to the park and play ball.
Now, let’s answer correctly the following questions.
1. Who has a best friend? Ben.
2. What kind of animal is Bantay? Dog.
3. What does Bantay loves to eat? Bone.
4. What does Bantay loves to drink? Milk.
5. Where do they always go? Park.
D. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPT AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS
Your able to answer the question correctly. Now, what help you answer the questions?
PICTURES- early reader can use picture clues to help figure out the meaning of new or
unknown words. And pictures help you to read words and understand meanings.
For example;

1. Daniel is reading a (book, newspaper).

2. She is wearing a (watch, hat).


3. They are playing (basketball, volleyball).

4.
The boy is (sleeping, eating).

5.
The baby is (crying, crawling).
Next, TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE- Refers to the body movements. TPR is used to react
and interact. Using this, we understand the meaning of words.
For example, what we did in our drill which are;
1. Walk to the door
2. Jump three times
3. Run in place
4. Shake your head
5. Clap your hands
E. APPLICATION
GAME SHOW
The teacher will group the learners in to two. Teacher will flash pictures on T.V. and they will
write the correct meaning or the correct action that will show on the picture. The first group that
will get the correct answer get the points and the group with the higher score is the winner.
F. GENERALIZATION
1. What is TPR means?
2. What clues that we used to know the meaning of words.
3. Give an example of body movements and TPR.
IV. EVALUATION
A. Directions: Look at the pictures carefully. Choose the correct action or body movement.
