Through a systematic analysis of existing literature, research findings, and industry practices,
this paper explores the diverse array of security threats faced by smartphone users, including
malware, phishing attacks, unauthorized access, and data breaches. These threats not only pose
financial and reputational risks to individuals but also have broader implications for
organizations, governments, and society as a whole. Furthermore, the complexity of smartphone
ecosystems, comprising various operating systems, app stores, and device manufacturers,
complicates security efforts, requiring a multifaceted approach to mitigate risks effectively.
Despite the challenges posed by smartphone security, this survey highlights the existence of
effective strategies and solutions for enhancing smartphone security. Encryption techniques,
authentication mechanisms, and security protocols implemented in smartphones and applications
play a crucial role in safeguarding user data and privacy. Additionally, regulatory frameworks,
industry standards, and user awareness initiatives contribute to promoting better security hygiene
among smartphone users and fostering a culture of cybersecurity.
