Working Title: "Management Politics: Influence of Power Struggles on Organisational
Development"
Background of the Study:

The Problem Statement: Small, medium or huge organisations all at one point might face a
state of redundancy where there is a ceiling of growth, no solutions to the plateau or risks of
downturn caused by power struggles.

The Purpose of the Study


Research Questions
a) What happens when there are power struggles in the organisation and how does it
influence the growth of the organisation?
b) Why do people use power play to stay in positions and what are the reasons behind it?
c) When is considered an imbalance power struggle?
d) Who uses the power and who suffers from the power struggles?
e) Which power struggles do organisations suffer from and what were the reasons it
started?
f) How do certain people navigate through the power plays and are their ways effective
to be applied to the rest of the organisation?

The Scope of the Study


a) Research Objectives: To find ways to navigate through the power struggles in order
to allow the organisation to continue operating and growing.
b) Research Significance:
- To educate the leaders, managers, employees and staff about the influence of
power and authority and the consequences of their actions.
- To create systematic and effective processes to implement in small, medium
and large organisations to encourage healthy growth
- To diffuse the power struggles that might lead to life-threatening situations for
the suffering parties and to provide solutions for organisations involved
