Daddy is not a delivery guy
Who brings pizza or carries the shopping bags inside.
Daddy is not a handyman, nor a carpenter, nor a technician,
Although he can fix almost everything in the kitchen.
Daddy is not a chef nor is he a waiter,
Who serves everybody their lunch or dinner.
Daddy is not a buoy, nor a life jacket at sea,
Nor is he a lifeguard (even though he used to dream he would be).
Daddy is not a trampoline, nor a donkey, nor a horse,
Nor is he a wild army tank, carrying you along the course.
Daddy is not an actor, nor a director,
Although, with his stand-ups, he brings the house laughter.
Daddy is not a doctor, nor is he a fairy,
Although he helps with any wound or injury.
Daddy is not a ladder you can climb to the sky,
Although he lifts you up higher each time he tries.
Daddy is not a wallet, nor is he a money machine,
Although Mommy always tells him, “Buy them some ice cream.”
Daddy is not a magician, nor is he Superman,
Although he is the closest to those among all men. . . .
Daddy is not Mommy,
Even though he loves you as much as she.
So . . .
What is Daddy?

Daddy is the one who is always there for you,

Helping and supporting as you need him to.

Daddy is the one who will teach you how to fix whatever you want,
To replace the toy car battery or repair the doll’s broken wand.

He is always happy to play or to coach you, to be in the first row,

Encourage and applaud you in any match or show.

He’s the one who will give you the biggest hug ever
After a scary dream at night,
Or when you just want to feel better.
