GD - Causative Have and Get
1- We use the causative have and get when we refer to actions that we do ourselves / someone
does for or to us.
Example sentences:
- Companies such as Google think that if they can get you to bump into your colleagues, you’ll
do more sharing of ideas.
- At Google, breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided free and you can get your bike repaired,
have your car washed…
- They have their employees eat lunch at long tables so they will chat to more people.

A. When we arrange for somebody else to do something for or to us, but we don’t say who
does it, we use: HAVE / GET SOMETHING DONE We don’t say who .
OR
get + object + past participle (this one is slightly more informal than using have)
B. We can also use these structures when something has happened to us, and we didn’t
want it to happen.
C. When we arrange for somebody else to do something for us, or for somebody else to do
something we want, and we DO say who does it, we use:
HAVE/ GET SOMEONE (TO) DO SOMETHING for us
get + person + infinitive with to
OR
D. Have and get are the main verbs so they don’t change / change according to the tense.
Example sentence:
I’m going to have my hair cut tomorrow.
I’m going to get my car washed tomorrow.
I had my car repaired after the accident.
They got someone to do the ironing.
