Features of the Homeroom Guidance Program based on DM OUCI-2021-346

1. This shall be called HGP or Homeroom Guidance Program, not RHGP or HRGP. It shall not be viewed as
a formal learning area like EsP or AP. It shall be treated as a program that will help learners develop the
competencies needed in 3 domains: Academic, Personal/Social/Career.

2. The delivery in class is quite informal but still follows the Structured Learning Experience Flow. Take
the chance to enhance the adviser-student relationship on a deeper level. Go away with practices such as
using the time to extend the subject being taught to the class or worse just asking the students to clean
and do some other stuff not related to the HGP. This is just 1 hour per week, please give this program
what is due to it.
3. Class Advisers shall be assigned to implement the program with the technical assistance of the
Guidance Counselor/Coordinators and Department Guidance Advocates

4. The modules may be accessed through the links provided. These are the available modules so far. One
module may be subdivided into parts, hence, one module could be used for four weeks or one month
depending on the length, pacing of the class, and additional materials by the advisers. Stick to the
assignment of topics per quarter.
5. The mode of instruction is preferred to be in any language convenient to the learners to ensure
participation and interaction during the session and better understanding of the concepts
6. Every session is an opportunity for the adviser to know his/her students. Any significant observations
should be noted in the Teacher's Anchored Booklet for reference when giving feedback to the parents
during PTA Meetings
7. Any strange observation of a child's behavior may be grounds for referral to the School Guidance Office
through the Department Guidance Advocates
8. Though the intent of HGP is to help learners develop competencies that will aid them in facing different
issues and tasks, it is important to still track their level of development. Learner's Development
Assessment Tool will be used
9. Learner's development shall be assessed through their portfolio and performance tasks. Conduct of
HGP is mandatory but is not part of academic rating. Grades are just descriptive.
10. "Needs Improvement" description shall not be treated as failed but shall indicate the need for
intervention from school and home. Disciplinary cases of learners must not affect their HG grades.
