Chapter I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

Introduction

 This introduces the concept of the study in a very effective manner starting from

the general to specific for the reader to easily understand and be interested in the

study.

 It should have a statement of importance, be with impact, and simple and clearly

related to the topic.

 The introduction is just like a funnel. You start from the general state of affairs

related to your topic from the global setting down to the local context.

 Finally, you have to introduce the need to conduct the study.

Statement of the Problem

 This part specifies the variables to be investigated.

 The research objective has the following characteristics: it should be stated

clearly, it should be feasible, it should yield to highly reliable statistical treat-

ment and it should ask the relationship of the two variables.

 The hypothesis is a conjectural statement of the relation between two or more

variables.

 It is a tentative or temporary answer to a research problem.

Theoretical or Conceptual Framework

 Theoretical Framework is a theory that can support the present study.

 On the other hand, the conceptual framework is summarized into a logical net-

work of relationships of the key concepts or variables involved in the study.

 Be able to explain well the chosen theory.

 Mention the similarities of your study to the theory.

 Link your current study with the chosen theory.

Research Paradigm

 The paradigm is the illustration of the relationship of the variables and their cor-

responding indicators.

 After the paradigm, there should be a discussion about the roles of each variable.
