Bachelor in Hospitality Management:

curriculum overview

The bachelor programme at Hotelschool The Hague is designed for

professional, ambitious students who want to succeed in an international
business environment. Leading experts from academia and industry provide
students with hands-on-learning in real-world projects and indispensable
business theory. Our students have diverse cultural backgrounds and form
life-long friendships during their first year on campus. This degree is the ideal
springboard for a successful international career in hospitality and beyond.

Did you know?

At Hotelschool The Hague we follow teaching blocks of

10 weeks each (4 blocks per year). After every block, you have
1 week off. We call this Week 0.

The programme includes two different internships (abroad),

in Year 2 and Year 4. During your internships you will work
in a full service hotel or hospitality related business.
Our Placement Office will support you in finding the most
suitable location.

In your final year you can choose one from 5 minors; future
of business, future of food, future of work, future of guest
experience and future of digitalisation. There is also a study
abroad option!

As part of our bachelor you have the opportunity to follow a

pre-master programme. This gives you direct access to
master programmes at different business universities in
The Netherlands.
 The curriculum is built up logically. The first year covers the fundamentals of running a hospitality business, and
by the fourth year students are learning what it takes to innovate the broader hospitality sector. Personal growth
and development are key elements of our programme’s learning process Students work individually but also on
case studies in teams in real-world companies. Our degree programme is taught in English.

Introducing our first-year student accommodation, the Skotel
What is the Skotel?
The Skotel is our student accommodation which is
exclusive to and mandatory for first year students.
Where is it?
In Amsterdam the Skotel is in the same building
as the school, where two students share one
room/bathroom and 8 rooms share a kitchen.
In The Hague the Skotel is ten minutes walking
distance from the school, where 8 students share
a housing unit with a common area and a kitchen.
Two students share each bedroom and four
students share one bathroom.
Can I choose which campus I study and
live on?
You can indicate a preference of campus as part
of your application. We cannot guarantee every
student’s first choice.

What is included in the Skotel experience?
Students stay in Skotel for the full academic year
and this includes breakfast.
Can I stay in the Skotel in years 2-4?
The Skotel is only available to first year students.
In the second, third and fourth year, students live
off campus. Students arrange their own
accommodation and the HTH student network
including Student Council and social media are
great resources for finding student apartments
and houses.

Students can choose between two start dates; February and August each year.
Applications open in October every year and close in November (for February
entry) and May (for August entry).

Hi! I am an international student,
currently in my third year and

I live in the Duinzigt neighborhood in
The Hague, where I share the house with
3 of my closest friends. I spend around
€ 600 per month for rent and utilities.
When it comes to the food, I love meal
prepping, so I only spend around € 250
on groceries each month. Also, The Hague
has many options of student discounts,
such as for gym memberships, clothing
and social events, which helps young
people discover the city under a budget!

Hey! I’m Simone, a third-year
student studying at the
Amsterdam campus.
I live in a nearby neighborhood with
another HTH student and we share an
apartment. My monthly expenses, including
utilities, amount to roughly € 850. I enjoy
cooking at home and spend around
€ 250 each month on groceries. However,
I also frequently dine at the school’s
canteen which costs me € 2-per meal.
My social activities with friends often
involve dining out or exploring museums,
which amounts to approximately € 50-60
per month. Thankfully, my part-time job
