Overview
RRA (Rig Remote Access) is used to transfer planning data such as drill plans, tunnel lines,
lasers and fix points to the machine and log data such as drill logs and MWD logs from the
machine.
This document describes how to commission RRA on a Boomer RCS5 equipped with
Anybus Wireless Bridge II and router 9106 9750 60.

Machine configuration
The machine will connect to the RRA server through the mines Wifi infrastructure. The
customer must therefore provide some data ahead of the installation.
Please notify the customers IT-department that the following ports has to be open for
communication.

Wireless Bridge
The Wireless bridge will come preconfigured with standard settings for our application.
To connect to the customer network you need to set SSID and Encryption.

Since the WLAN module is preconfigured from factory you will only need to change wireless
network name and wireless security settings.
These settings will be found under “Wireless LAN Setup / WLAN / Basic WLAN Setup” and
“Wireless LAN Setup / WLAN / WLAN Security Settings”

After re-starting, confirm that you have successfully connected to the wireless network by
going in to the “Wireless LAN status” menu.
Status should now show as connected to set SSID and you can also see signal strength.
Please note that IP-address in the wireless bridge is only used to access the settings page of
the wireless bridge and should NOT be changed. Changing the IP address in the wireless
bridge will only make future configuration more complicated.
The IP address that the machine uses to communicate with the RRA-server is set in the router.

Connect your pc to port X3 or X2 on the Acksys WLAN module using the ethernet service
cable 9106 2219 43 or similar
WEB INTERFACE
Since the WLAN module is preconfigured from factory you will only need to change wireless
network name and wireless security settings.
These settings will be found under “BASIC- WIRELESS”

Router
The router is also preconfigured from factory. The only settings that needs to be configured is
the IP settings provided from the customer.
Connect your laptop to X10 on the router. Open a web browser and type 192.168.100.1 in the
address field.

PC/Server Configuration
There are two PC software’s that needs to be installed at computers in the customer’s
network. The RRA Server which will handle communication with the machine, and the client
which is used to administrate the server. Adding/removing machines from the server and
checking the status of the machine.
RRA Server
The RRA Server is just a service running on a server in the customer’s network. Typically the
customers IT department will handle the installation and provide the IP address for the server
where RRA-server is installed. There are no settings needed.
Files from and to machine will be stored in C:\serverdataroot\”machine number”
RRA Client
RRA Client is used to add/remove machines from the server and check connection status.
RRA Client can be installed on any PC in the same network as the RRA-server.
Start RRA-client and open “Main-Settings” menu and type in the IP-adress for the RRA-
server provided the customer and click “Save”. This will connect you to the server
Machines connected to the server will now appear in the list. Any new machine will be
marked with a blue circle.
