Statement of Purpose

Ever since I watched Harry Potter for the rst time, I've been enchanted by the power of
cinema to bring the fantastical to life—from Fluffy, the three-headed dog guarding the
philosopher's stone and terrorizing anyone who seeks it, to the intense quidditch matches with 14
people on broomsticks, and ying bludgers in the air. This early experience sparked a lifelong
fascination not just with movies as a form of entertainment but as profound vehicles for
storytelling. My passion is rooted in the transition from the immersive worlds of books, which fuel
the reader's imagination, to lms and movies that crystallize those imaginations into visible,
vibrant realities.
Growing up, I learned the ins and outs of television production from my dad, a TV
producer, which meant that I was up close to the productions of the Norwegian adaptations of
shows like Big Brother, The Amazing Race, The Voice, and Extreme Makeover - Home Edition.
This naturally led to pursuing a degree in Norway, where I graduated with my B.A. in Multi-
Camera production at HINN (Innlandet University College). After graduation, I worked as a
broadcast photographer, a role that let me hone my technical skills and narrative instincts. For the
National Norwegian Broadcast, I participated in several productions broadcasting some of the
most essential Norwegian sporting events to almost a million Norwegian television viewers, which
is 68% market share. In addition to that, I worked on talk show productions like "Lindmo" and
entertainment programs such as "Allsang på Grensen" and Eurovision Song Contest. Even
though these projects gave me tremendous experiences in storytelling for TV and working in
high-pressure live broadcasting, they left me with a yearning for the broader creative possibilities
within lmmaking.
My ambition with attending SCAD is to re ne my ability to meld visual and narrative
creations into lms that transport audiences, just as I was transported years ago. I rmly believe
that SCAD's program and courses will signi cantly enhance my narrative abilities beyond their
current level. With my prior TV experience, I hope to contribute valuable insights to my peers
during projects and discussions. Together, we can grow and improve our collective skills within
SCAD's curriculum. My visit to SCAD earlier this February was undoubtedly an eye-opening
experience. I immediately fell in love with the vibrant campus and various programs. As a

proponent of hands-on learning, I felt right at home with the practical and immersive teaching
style embraced by the school. During my visit, I had the opportunity to engage with several
faculty members. I was very impressed to learn that many of them are not only educators but
also active industry professionals. This blend of teaching and real-world experiences ensures that
the curriculum is not only current but also re ective of the ongoing trends and practices in the
industry.
As an outgoing person who loves working in teams, and given my TV experience, this is the
perfect groundwork for developing my storytelling techniques and getting direct and practical
feedback from professionals within the industry. While at SCAD, I want to create long-lasting
partnerships and friendships with faculty and students that will bene t my career in the industry
and endure through life. I plan to engage in multiple programs to elevate my abilities to create
worlds, stories, and experiences for audiences. So that they, like me, can see the fantastical come
to life.
