List of Submission & Grappling Techniques with Instructions & Videos

This section will help you to learn how to do many different submission techniques &
counters such as the Guillotine Choke, Kimura Defense and Armbar from Guard.
Also visit the Judo Techniques page for additional grappling techniques (i.e. throws,
pins and joint locks).

Martial arts is not just kicking and punching. Many martial arts styles and systems
(such as Mixed Martial Arts, Sambo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) use grappling techniques
in order to control or defeat their opponents. Therefore, many martial artists are
learning submission techniques and counters in order to add a ground component to
their traditional martial arts training. All of the techniques below include instructional
videos to help you learn more about a specific submission or counter/escape. These
grappling and submission techniques should be only practiced under the supervision
of a trained martial arts instructor. Some of these techniques are very dangerous (i.e.
the Rear Naked Choke) if done improperly during training.
