Semester II – 2021/22 Prepared by :

Prof. K.P. Vidanapathirana

Welcome to the Level I Basic Electronics Laboratory sessions. Here, you
will have the opportunity to gain practical experience on the theories learnt
on the modules Introduction to Electricity & Magnetism, Introduction to
Semiconductors and Introduction to Digital Electronics.

You have to follow rules and regulations in the laboratory properly. Time is
considered as a very important factor. When you come in and leave, you
have to do them at the assigned time. Late comers as well as early leavers
are not entertained. Maximum silence should be maintained inside the
laboratory. Demonstrators are there to guide you only. You have to read and
understand the lab sheet provided to every practical. If there is any problem,
clarification, you can seek the assistance of the demonstrators. Also, if there
is any equipment or any other special fact to be highlighted, they will
explain about them. You should contact the demonstrators for any
assistance.

The experiments are designed to be completed within the laboratory session

(4 hrs) and you are asked to submit the report of the practical on the next
laboratory session. It is a must to keep a running record of everything that is
done. You should have a clear, accurate and complete note that you will be
able to interpret without difficulty at a later date.

All measurements should be recorded immediately and directly in the record

sheets. In making and recording a measurement, it is a good idea to check
what you have written by looking at the instrument again. So, read, write
and check. On all possible occasions, readings should be tabulated.

Students are responsible for all apparatus used by them for an experiment.
All damages should be reported to a demonstrator soon.

Before switching on power of circuits you design, please get the approval of
a demonstrator.
