Procedure
1. Review the Mechanisms Reference resource.
2. Use the parts shown in Figure 1 to build the Base Plate shown in Figure 2.

a. Attach a 2x Wide, 2x2 Corner Connector using four 1x1 Connector Pins to
a 2x12 Beam as shown in Figure 4. Note the one hole that is not used.
b. Attach a 2x Wide, 1x2 Offset Corner Connector to the end of the 2x12
Beam from the previous step then insert three 1x1 Connector Pins into the
connector as shown in Figure 5.
c. Attach a 2x Wide, 2x2 Corner Connector using four 1x1 Connector Pins to
a 2x12 Beam as shown in Figure 6. Note the one hole that is not used.
d. Attach a 2x Wide, 1x2 Offset Corner Connector to the end of the 2x12
Beam from the previous step then insert three 1x1 Connector Pins into the
connector as shown in Figure 7.
e. Attach a 2x4 Beam to the right and left support built earlier as shown in
Figure 8.

f. Slide two Rubber Shaft Collars onto an 8x Pitch Shaft then insert into the
hole shown in Figure 9. Be careful to orient the support so that the
connector with the missing pin matches the figure shown.
g. Slide a Rubber Shaft Collar, 40 Tooth Sprocket and two 0.25x Pitch
Spacers onto the shaft from the previous step as shown in Figure 10.
h. Slide the parts from the previous step through the 2x12 Beam then slide
two Rubber Shaft Collars onto an 8x Pitch Shaft as shown in Figure 11.
i. Slide two Rubber Shaft Collars onto an 8x Pitch Shaft then insert into the
hole shown in Figure 12.
j. Slide a two 0.25x Pitch Spacers, 8 Tooth Sprocket, and a Rubber Shaft
Collar onto the shaft from the previous step as shown in Figure 13.
k. Pass the shaft through the 2x12 Beam and slide on a Rubber Shaft Collar.
4. Use the parts shown in Figure 14 to build the Rear Sprocket Sub-Assembly
shown in Figure 22.

a. Attach a 2x Wide, 2x2 Corner Connector using four 1x1 Connector Pins to
a 2x12 Beam as shown in Figure 15. Note the one hole that is not used.
b. Attach a 2x Wide, 1x2 Offset Corner Connector to the end of the 2x12
Beam from the previous step then insert three 1x1 Connector Pins into the
connector as shown in Figure 16.
c. Attach a 2x Wide, 2x2 Corner Connector using five 1x1 Connector Pins to
a 2x12 Beam as shown in Figure 17. Note that all holes in the connector
are used.
d. Attach a 2x Wide, 1x2 Offset Corner Connector to the other end of the
2x12 Beam from the previous step then insert three 1x1 Connector Pins
into the connector as shown in Figure 18.
e. Attach a 2x4 Beam to the right and left support built earlier as shown in
Figure 19.
f. Slide a Rubber Shaft Collar onto an 6x Pitch Shaft then insert into the hole
shown in Figure 20. Be careful to orient the support so that the connector
with the missing pin matches the figure shown.
g. Slide two 0.25x Pitch Spacers, a 40 Tooth Sprocket, three 0.25x Pitch
Spacers, 8 Tooth Sprocket, then two 0.25x Pitch Spacers on to the shaft.
Insert the shaft through the 2x12 Beam then slide a Rubber Shaft Collar
onto the end of the shaft as shown in Figure 22.

5. Use the parts shown in Figure 23 to build the Launch Arm shown in Figure 24.

a. Attach a 1x3 Lock Plate to a 1x12 Beam using two 1x1 Connector Pins as
shown in Figure 24.
b. Attach a 2x Wide, 2x2 Corner Connector to the end of the beam in the
previous step.
c. Attach two ½x Standoffs to the connector as shown in Figure 24.
6. Use the sub-assemblies shown in Figure 25 to mount the Forward Sprocket Sub-
Assembly shown in Figure 26.

Figure 30. Attach the 2x4 Beam to the 2x Wide, 2x2 Corner Connector using two
1x1 Connector Pins.

a. Thread the shorter of the two chains (54 links, 13 ½ inches) through the
sprockets shown in Figure 34. Refer to the Mechanisms Reference for
guidance to work with a chain.
b. Thread the remaining chain (58 links, 14 ½ inches) through the sprockets
shown in Figure 35.
11. Use the parts shown in Figure 36 to attach the chains shown in Figure 38.

a. Use two 1x1 Connector Pins to attach a 1x8 Beam to the vertical beams
as shown in Figure 37.
b. Use three 1x1 Connector Pins to attach a 1x8 Beam to the vertical beams
as shown in Figure 38.
12. Use the parts shown in Figure 39 to attach the drive handle shown in Figure 40.

13. Use the parts shown in Figure 41 to attach the launcher and back stop shown in
Figure 42. Insert the standoff into the unused hole in the 2x Wide, 2x2 Corner
Connector.

14. Roll a 3x3 inch piece of paper into a ball to be used as a projectile and place it by
the launcher.
15. Place the tape measure by the launcher.
16. Slowly turn the Drive Handle to confirm that the Launch Arm moves.
17. Leave this guide with the system as a reference.
