OUR MISSION
EcoCortec® is a bioplastics and
anticorrosion packaging company located
in Beli Manastir, Croatia, that specializes in
manufacturing Cortec’s innovative Vapor
phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI®) films.
The plant offers complete converting,
extruding, and printing capabilities.
Located on a 10,000 square meter
geographically strategic site in Central
Eastern Europe, our plant can be reached
by truck, railway, the river Danube, or air.
EcoCortec® is positioned at the crossroads
of state highways and is only 3 kilometers
away from trans-European corridor C5.
EcoCortec® manufactures films and bags
according to customer specifications for
product size and performance. We are
very flexible when it comes to order size
and meeting special customer requests for
just-in-time deliveries.

At present, we have five extrusion

lines consisting of:
• Two three-layer (co-extruded) blown
film lines
• Three mono blown film lines
• One-color inline printing capabilities -
Inkjet printing
• Two inline bag making machines

The plant has two production halls.

Together with new offices, the brand new
2000 square meter facility also includes
state-of-the-art extrusion line E5.

1
EcoCortec® also has sideweld and bottomweld converting machines for making bags.
These include a top-seal (zipper) bag machine with different design options and an
offline BOR gene) machine. A film rewinder machine and recycling machine allow us
to eliminate waste from our production process. At EcoCortec® we are continually
improving and expanding our facilities, equipment, processes, and ourselves to meet
our customer’s needs and expectations for consistent high-quality films and bags
delivered on time.

2
ECOCORTEC® PARTNER IN PROJECTS
SUPPORTED BY EUROPEAN FUNDS
Our plant was part of the international €1.1 million Marine Clean Project, “Marine debris
removal preventing further litter entry,” sponsored by the CIP Eco-Innovation Program.
The main goal of this innovative project was preventing the hazardous environmental
impact of conventional plastic materials discarded at sea, as well as promoting
sustainability and innovative technologies. In 2017, EcoCortec® became a partner in
the €1.95 million European BIOCOMPACK project supported by Interreg CENTRAL
EUROPE. The goal of this project is also to decrease plastic waste.

EUROPE’S FIRST COLLECTION

AND RECYCLING INITIATIVE
EcoCortec® is implementing a European-wide initiative to
collect and recycle used VpCI® films and bags. This is the first
recycling programme of this type implemented in Europe.
Within the “Plastic Recycling Project,” EcoCortec’s customers
send their waste material back to the Croatian plant, where it
is then completely recycled and used for manufacturing a new
product. We are very proud to be a leader in spreading this
environmentally responsible program throughout Croatia and
Europe.

3
BIODEGRADABLE &
COMPOSTABLE PACKAGING FILMS
Cortec® has pioneered two technologies of biodegradable
and compostable films: Eco Film® and Eco Works®. Both
Eco Film® and Eco Works® offer a biodegradable alternative
to polyethylene films and bags while still offering good
performance characteristics. Both product lines were designed
with their entire lifecycle in mind. Eco Film® and Eco Works® can
also be combined with VpCI® Technology (Eco Corr®) and ESD
protection (Eco Corr® ESD). We are also able to coat adhesives on
Eco products (Eco Wrap®). These capabilities offer an extensive
lineup of innovative packaging products. Eco Film® and Eco
Works® are available in a range of sizes and forms, as well as in
retail packs and boxes.

Eco Works® bags contain biodegradable polyesters, including an annually renewable biopolymer source
derived from plant sugars. When placed in an industrial compost setting, they will biodegrade within a
matter of weeks, with no eco-toxicity to the soil.

4
EXTRUDING
The first step in manufacturing films is
the extrusion process, where raw resin is
processed into film. Our blown film extrusion
line can produce flat tubing, gusseted tubing,
single wound sheeting, centerfold sheeting,
and other custom configurations. Color
concentrates, VpCI®, and other specialized
additives such as static dissipative, flame
retardant, and ultraviolet inhibitors can all be
added to the formulations to precisely attain
our customer’s individual needs. EcoCortec®
is capable of extruding linear low blends
of up to 100%. The size ranges from 100
mm minimum lay flat width up to 2150 mm
maximum width, depending on the film
configuration and the film thickness.

5
LABORATORY
EcoCortec® has a world-class laboratory that can
perform testing compliant to Military Specifications
(MIL-STD 3010) and ASTM standards (Section 8 series
D). All VpCI® film batches are tested for Vapor phase
Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI®) ability. A Fourier Transform –
Infrared (FT-IR) Spectrometer is used to examine VpCI®
and other additive concentrations.
Mechanical properties and coefficient of friction are measured with an Instron
precision instrument. Water vapor transmission and electrostatic discharge (ESD)
rates are determined using a desiccant chamber designed for 0% RH. ESD films are
manufactured in compliance with Military Specification MIL-PRF-81705D. Each ESD
production order is tested on-site for static decay and surface resistivity. Static decay
testing complies with Federal standard 101 Method 4046. Surface Resistivity exceeds
ESD S 11.11 specifications. Custom VpCI® films are also developed and tested on site.
Specific strengths, tear resistance, tackiness, and slip qualities can all be formulated
according to the customer’s needs.

6
CONVERTING
Our converting department fabricates film into bags in a wide variety of sizes, shapes,
and styles for packaging equipment, hardware, spare parts, and just about anything
else you require. Specialized tooling enables us to manufacture unique bags such as
V-sealed contour, or other custom designs. Many different shapes and sizes of holes
can be punched for venting, hanging, or carrying products. We are well equipped to
manufacture the hem reinforced handle, draw tape handle, and the popular bag-on-
roll and top-seal bags. This department handles packaging requirements with creativity
and experience.

PEACH HILL ECO-FARM
Beautiful Peach Hill eco-farm is located in the heart of Baranja’s intact nature, not far
from the EcoCortec® plant. This rich natural oasis abounds in varieties of organic fruits
and vegetables. We are particularly proud of the cultivation of peaches, whose juiciness
is well known all over Baranja and beyond. Environmental awareness is highest when it
comes to fruits and vegetables, because in most cases, they are consumed directly and
without processing. Precisely because of this we operate in accordance with nature
while relying on renewable energy sources at our Peach Hill eco-farm and EcoCortec®
plant. In cooperation with the local community, we promote environmental habits and
a lifestyle that excludes the use of pesticides, harmful emissions, and other pollution
to which people are increasingly exposed in today’s modern way of life.
