III. METHODOLOGY

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

Preliminary Activity
a. Greetings
“Good morning Class” “Good morning, ma’am”

b. Prayer
“Before we start, let us pray first” “Our Father” …. AMEN

c. Drill
“Before you take your seat, please pick all the
scattered pieces of papers under your chair and
kindly arrange it properly.”
“You may now take your seat”
“Thank you, ma’am.”
d. Checking of Attendance
Who’s absent today?
Very good! “None, ma’am.”

e. Review
“Just to review, who among you here
can still remember what we have
discussed last meeting?”
“ Our lesson last meeting is all about Division of
Decimals.”
“Very good, its all division of
decimals.
Now, who among you wants to go
in front to solve the problem
(35.6÷10) on the board?”

“Yes, Ronald?” “3.56 ma’am”

Verygood! Who wants to solve the

number 2 problem (35.6÷100)? Yes, “0.356 ma’am”
Sheryldine!

That’s right! And who wants to solve “0.0356 ma’am”

the last problem? (35.6÷1000) Yes,
Angela!

Excellent! You still remember our past

lesson.

Motivation

“To start our lesson for this morning, we

need to fix a puzzle first. I put some of the
pieces of the puzzle under your armchairs
and those who got some the piece will
come in front and paste it on the manila
paper on the board. Got it? (Pupils started to search for the piece of

paste it, one by one. (Pupils started to paste the puzzle in

Yes, ma’am. Because it’s not mine and
mother? Why? always be honest.

Very good! That’s good to hear.

Lesson Proper

Today, we’re going to read a problem

that’s why you need to listen carefully and
make sure to understand the problem
because you’re going to answer some
questions afterwards.

Sab and Andrea went to the market to

buy 5.75 kilos of ground meat. When they
came home, they divided the whole meat into
one-tenths and put it in plastic bags for future
use. How many bags of meat were there? To the market, ma’am.
They will going to buy 5.75 kilos of

meat? They are thrifty ma’am.
 What kind of girls are Sab and
Andrea? Yes, ma’am. By being thrifty and not
spending money in useless things that I
 Do you also save for the future?
don’t really need..
How?

Very good! Since today we are going to divide

decimals up to 4 decimal places by 0.1, 0.01
and 0.001 the first thing we must do is to know
the rules in dividing decimals.

Rule #1: Make the divisor a whole number.

Ex. 5.75 ÷ 0.1= N
Ans. 5.75 ÷ 1 = N
Rule #2: Do the same to the dividend what you
did to the divisor.
Ex. 5.75 ÷ 0.1= N
Ans: 57.5 ÷ 1 = N
Rule #3: Proceed to dividing them like whole
numbers.
Ex. 5.75 ÷ 0.1= N
Ans: 57.5 ÷ 1 =57.5

Dividing decimals by 0.1

 in dividing decimals by
0.1 just move the
decimals point in the
dividend one place to the
right.
5.762 ÷ 0.1= 57.62
Another example:

Dividing decimals by 0.01

 in dividing decimals by
0.01 just move the
decimals point in the
dividend two places to
the right.
5.762 ÷ 0.01= 576.2

More Examples:

Dividing decimals by 0.001

 in dividing decimals by
0.001 just move the
decimal point three
places to the right.
5.762 ÷ 0.001 = 5762
More Examples:

Generalization

Again, what are the rules in dividing decimals?

Very good! And the rule number 2?

Excellent! And the last rule?

Why do you think decimal is important?

-Make the divisor a whole number.

-Do the same to the dividend what you did

to the divisor.
Very well said! We use decimals if we cannot
get the precise number of something. -Proceed to dividing them like whole numbers.

-It is important because we use decimals every

day while dealing with money, weight, length
etc. Decimal numbers are used in situations
Application where more precision is required than
the whole numbers can provide.
“ Alright so since we are done discussing the
Division of decimals up to 4 decimal places by
0.1, 0.01, 0.001, we will have here a short
activity.”

I will group you into two groups. But before

that what will you while having our group
activity?

Verygood! I hope you will do that while doing

your activity.
Now, the first group will going to identify the
correct decimal number (0.1, 0.01, 0.001) in
order to solve the given problem and the
second group will solve the following problem
by matching column A to column B. You have Read and follow the instruction.
5 mins to do this. You can start now. Help your groupmates.
Avoid being noisy.
