We live in the world where human practices are constantly harming our environment.

The rate of
pollution is constantly increasing thus causing environmental damages. With the rise of environmental
issues there are only a few people who contribute to these issues. This s is where my passion for
protecting environment started to develop. For this reason I was in search of a professional course that
enables me to protect the mother earth. I want to become the one who fights against the negligence of
people and fight for the environment. With a career in environmental management, I can have a
rewarding job.

My name is Abdullah and I am Pakistani national student. I live in Mardan and my date of birth is….. As
far as my academics are concerned, I did matriculation in 2008 and then intermediate in 2011. After that
I went to china to study engineering. I was enrolled in the course of Bachelors of Petroleum and Gas
Engineering. When I studied this subject, I also came across many issues in petroleum and gas industry
that are damaging environment. I came to know that the issues regarding sanitation, filtration systems,
climate change, wastewater and land use are very common and need to be resolved in the Petroleum
and gas industry. This industry also requires recycling of more water, decreasing air emissions or
reclaiming a tailings pond. As I have a special love and passion for environment and want to be a part of
the solution, so Environmental Management may be the career for me.

As there are different environmental challenges so their solutions are also complex and they require
scientific, social, political and economic viewpoints. My proposed course of environmental management
will teach me interdisciplinary perspective and skills to find solutions to environmental problems. The
most important thing about this course is that it teaches how to work in a leadership role. It gives you
management skills and you will learn to manage environmental concerns of your community
responsibly. The course is very useful and this career is very rewarding as I will be able to make a
positive impact on my society.

This degree program has eight modules in which three are compulsory and four are optional. I will also
have a Master’s project. The course also gives me option to complete a general course to get a deeper
understanding across a selected discipline for specialization. As I have studied petroleum and gas
engineering so I will choose Oil and Gas pathway.

Oil and gas operations put many risks to the environment. The off-shore operations give many
environmental challenges so through this course; I will learn how to reduce those risks and how to
minimize the risks of emissions from production and exploration of oil and gas.

The study modules of this course include Climate Change and Carbon Management; Climate Justice;
Contaminated Land and Landfill Engineering; Environmental Planning and Impact Assessment;
Environmental Pollution Monitoring and Analysis; Health, Safety and Environmental Management, GIS
and Environmental Management; Health, Safety and Environmental Management. Other optional
modules depend on the pathway the students will choose from Energy, Waste, Water or Oil and Gas. As
I will choose Oil and Gas, so I will study the modules including The Oil and Gas Industry and
environmental Regulation and State Control of Oil and Gas, etc.
After studying this course, I will develop critical intellectual and practical skills that will help me in
collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and understanding data about environmental pollution. The course is
very useful and will equip me with updated knowledge and skills so that they can make a career in
environmental management in the oil and gas sector. The advanced skills that I will learn through this
course will help me solve environmental problems. I will also develop a critical and holistic approach
that will improve my interpersonal, communications and other transferable skills so that I can work in
senior positions in the petroleum industry.

After completing my education of MSc Environmental Management, I can work in the Petroleum
companies, Environment Protection Agencies, major conservation bodies, the Environment Agency (EA),
etc. I will also learn leadership, and management skills. After the completion of this course, I will be able
to work as environmental consultant, environmental education officer, environmental engineer,
environmental manager, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Engineer, recycling officer, sustainability
consultant, etc.

To study this Environmental Management course, I want to study in the UK. UK in my option is the best
country to study after the USA. It is an affordable country after the USA. The UK’s education system is
one of the oldest education systems in the world. The universities in the UK are world-renowned in
education and research. I want to study in Scotland as it is a multicultural and peaceful country. There
are some of the top universities of the world in the UK. UK degrees are globally accepted and
recognized. In Pakistan, UK foreign qualified students are preferred over the domestic ones. So, after
studying there, I can also get my desired job in a multinational company. My education that I will gain in
the UK will help me gain career benefits. The universities in the UK are modern with abundance of
resources. The teachers are highly qualified industry experts and they have unconventional teaching
methods. If I will study in the UK University, I will not only have academic but also personality
development. So, I wish to study in the UK for getting high-quality education, experience high-quality

To study the Msc Program in Environmental Management, I researched many universities but choose

theory and practice. After studying there, I can have the academic as well as the practical skills. I

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Engineer in Pakistan Petroleum Limited. The MSc degree program
in Environmental Management will enable me to work as a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
Engineer in this organization. I can get a salary of PKR 100,000- 150,000 per month if I get a job in this
organization. Being a foreign qualified professional, I can get my dream job and my degree will open the
