Mary Shelley grew up with only his father because her mother died when she was born.

When
she was sixteen eloped (“fuga d’amore”) to Italy with poet Percy.B. Shelley (he was already
married with another woman). They lived a troubled life together (always in need of money;
many couple crises and new partners because four children that died when were born). She
was one of important poet in English Literature. Mary Shelley was born in 1797 and death in
1851 and wrote the novel “Frankenstein” after a nightmare (“un incubo”) and she did published
in 1818. She was inspired by the scientific studies (“cavie da studio per le scoperte scientifiche)
in 19th century. The period was Gothic, there was a period between the baroque and the
Romantic period (gothic was characterized by medieval ideal, with oscuri colori). The novel
started thanks to a summer competition with his friend (the theme was a ghost story). The ideal
of the novel of Frankenstein started when Mary Shelley was in holiday at the Lake of Geneva in
Switzerland, after a stormy night.„
