B.Tech. (CSE) Session 2023-24

PROJECT TOPIC: LLM Based Q/A Bot

AIML Group No.: 31

Project Group Members:

1. Akshat Verma ( N-11 / 201550017 )

2. Hariom Sharma ( N-26 / 201550057 )

Project Supervisor: Dr. Mayank Srivastava , Assistant Professor

About the Project:

In today's digital era, the abundance of information encapsulated within PDF

documents has underscored the necessity for efficient data extraction and retrieval
mechanisms. The "LLM Based Q/A Bot" project emerged as a pioneering endeavor
aimed at leveraging the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs) to redefine the
interaction paradigm with PDF files. By harnessing the power of cutting-edge natural
language processing techniques, this project seeks to develop a sophisticated
Question-Answering (Q/A) bot capable of comprehending user queries and extracting
pertinent answers from PDF documents seamlessly.
At its essence, the project underscores the transformative potential of advanced
LLMs, such as OpenAI's GPT, in facilitating nuanced understanding of user inquiries.
By delving into the context and semantics of queries, the Q/A bot endeavors to provide
accurate and contextually relevant responses, thereby enhancing the accessibility and
utility of information stored within PDF files.
Central to the functionality of the proposed Q/A bot is its ability to parse PDF
documents, extracting textual content for subsequent analysis. This parsing mechanism
serves as the cornerstone for the bot's capability to comprehend and process information
encapsulated within PDF files effectively.

Motivation: The digital landscape of today relies heavily on efficient information

extraction and retrieval mechanisms, particularly from PDF documents, which serve as
crucial repositories across multiple disciplines including education, research, and
business. However, the current methods of accessing information from PDF files often
involve manual searching and browsing, which can be time-consuming and inefficient.
In light of this, there is a growing need for a sophisticated solution that can revolutionize
the interaction with PDF files through natural language queries. Existing search
mechanisms may lack the capability to comprehend the context and semantics of user
inquiries, leading to inaccurate or irrelevant results. Therefore, there is a demand for an
advanced Question-Answering (Q/A) bot that can extract pertinent answers from PDF
documents while understanding and processing user queries in a contextually relevant
manner.
The proposed "LLM Based Q/A Bot" project aims to address this need by harnessing the
power of Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI's GPT. These LLMs have
demonstrated exceptional capabilities in understanding natural language and grasping
context, making them ideal candidates for improving information retrieval from PDF
documents.
