2.1 INSPECTION AND INSTRUCTION FROM THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

AGENDA DELIBERATIONS/OBSERVATIONS FOR

1. Civil One Consulting Engineers formed part of the team that carried out an inspection at S.E
the Kakuzi Forest Products yard for the gum poles to be procured by the main contractor
for use as columns and rafters at the restaurant in the Feminist Republik Healing Farm
project.This was done to ascertain that the gum poles to be acquired were strucurally
sound and adequate for the intended use as specified by the structural engineer.
The SE gave the following instriuctions;
a) The moisture content of the gum poles should not exceed the maximum 14%.
b) The SE instructed the supplier that the poles should be of high quality with
minimum possible surface defects in order to suit the intended used a the
restaurant.
c) The diameter of the poles at the top and at the bottomn should be equal with a
tolerance variation of 25mm.
d) Before receiving CCA treatment, the gum poles prepared by the supplier should
be examined closely. Representatives from consultants, contractors, and clients
must be present.
e) The Gum poles must be inspected for moisture content, flaws, and the precise
measurements mentioned in the order.
f) A certificate of treatment and charge sheet details from the Supplier must be
issued to the Client upon treatment of the Gum poles.

The inspection ended at 3:30pm.
