Malaysia’s Independence Day, Hari Merdeka, is also known as Hari Kebangsaan or National Day. The
Malaysia Independence day for 2021 is on Tuesday, 31 August. The Independence day has been
celebrated for 64 years. Malaysians normally go out and celebrate Merdeka but starting from 2020,
there has been a new virus called COVID-19. Nowadays, it is very dangerous to go out whilst there is
a big chance to get the virus, so we have to stay at home. Since we can’t go out from our houses,
here are some ideas on how to celebrate Merdeka during the pandemic: You can bake a cake. You
can buy the cake ingredients from some online shopping platforms such as Shopee, Lazada and
much more! Hmm, but wouldn’t the cake look too boring and bland for such a wonderful and
cheerful day like Merdeka? Oh, I know! You can decorate the cake with the colours of the Malaysia
Flag. But, if you don’t want to use this cake idea, I have another suggestion for you! You’ll get lonely
at home with your family since you can’t go out and visit your relatives, right? Well, I have the
perfect idea for you! You can have a video call with your relatives! But, it won’t feel like you’re
celebrating Merdeka if you haven’t got that Merdeka feeling, right? There’s an easy cure for this, you
can print out the Malaysia flag from your printer, if you have one in your home. But if you don’t, you
can draw it out! You can wave the flag with your relatives and shout: Merdeka! See, it’s that easy to
celebrate Merdeka even when you’re at home. I hope these ideas can help you and your family
celebrate Independence Day happier even when you have to stay at home. Thank you for listening.
